I always get H scratch tickets for Christmas. I kept putting it off this year and went to pick them up today. I stopped by our Fareway (Altoona) and, of course, the store is swamped. I didn't need groceries so I went straight to the express checkout and waited in line over 15 minutes just to hear the lady say, "Oh, the machine is broken." I kindly suggested that someone put a sign on the front door, and she looked at me like I was being the rude one.*
Is there anywhere that sells lotto that won't be swamped tonight? Or should I just wait until we get to Creston tomorrow and go to a store or gas station there? It will still be busy and I'll have to have some excuse to give H, but would probably be better than up here.
Oh and, what else could I get H that is $5 or less? He went a little over our $15 stocking stuffer limit on me and with the lotto, I'll hit our limit, but some of it is kinda crappy gifts.
*Yes, I get it's insanely busy, but I've worked at Fareway before too. Grab a marker and hand-write a sign. Give it to a courtesy boy to hang on his way back in.
Re: IA Lottery Retailers?
I would just go to a QT. Even when they're busy, they get through everyone quickly because the cashiers are ringing from both sides. (Funny how anywhere else I would think that's rude, but at QT it seems like genius).
I don't know what your HyVee is like, but we were in one today that was crazy busy, but the line for the courtesy counter was non-existent.
I would hit a gas station for the lotto tickets.
For the $5 stocking stuffer I would probably go with candy...
Hit a gas station for the tickets.
For more of a gift...boxers, candy, or maybe see if you can find a $5 DVD at Wal Mart or Target. They usually have a surprisingly good selection. i got DH fun thing like his face wash, tooth paste, etc for his stocking...pretty exciting
