When can there be a pillow in the crib?

Adrian LOVES this little travel size pillow that was mine when I was little.  There's a cow on it, which makes it especially exciting.  My dad just brought it up at Thanksgiving time.  He still pulls it out and lays on it in the living room.  I think he'd love to have a pillow in his crib, but at what age is it safe?

Re: When can there be a pillow in the crib?

  • I'm not sure if there is a "Safe age" ??But I would think by now he'd be fine. He can lift his head up and he wont suffocate. DD doesn't sleep with a pillow in her crib here, but while vacationing in SC her crib was pushed right up to my bed and she snagged the pillow a few times and thought it was great. I let her have it because afterwards she'd go to sleep!
  • I bought T a pillow pet peewee just before Thanksgiving.  She starts out with it, but then it ends up at the other end of the crib.  She moves so much!  I agree with Meg, he should be fine with it now.

  • I was just wondering this the other day. Felix doesn't have one yet, but it seems like many babies his age use them.

  • I broke all the "crib rules."  Bumpers, stuffies, so many blankets.....this is why we call it his "Nest." Or the "Hampster Cage" as one friend called it.  Seriously, my child has at least a dozen animals in there and has since he was probably 9-10 months old.  I say if Adrian loves the pillow, let him have it!  :)

Taylor is starting to like her stuffies.  She started with Violet in there a few months ago and has add a few since.  It's quite comical :)

  • It's gotten to the point with animals and babies that I want to take them all out of her room b/c she wants everyone in the crib with her so she can put them "night night" or she has to put a blanket over everyone on the shelf! I found her one night with no blanket on curled up in the corner but the animals were nice and toasty :P
  • Like Annie, we have used a bumper since the beginning and around 9 months a blanket and her snuggly. We also keep some books in there for her to look at when she wakes or puts her self asleep at nap. I think he would be ok.?
