Saint Lucia

My husband and I are planning a trip to Saint Lucia this summer.  Any suggestions on where to eat and what to do?  We love the outdoors and definitely plan on snorkeling.

Re: Saint Lucia

  • There's great snorkeling down by Soufrieres, so I would stay on that side of the island if you want to do lots of snorkeling. Otherwise, if you want to do a day trip to snorkel, there are ferries that will take you down to the snorkeling from the north side of the island.

We stayed at the Rendezvous up in Castries last year. LOVED it, and we would go back in a heartbeat. Lovely resort, wonderful staff, and great food.

  • go to the botanical gardens and sulfur springs

    take a sunset cruise

    horseback riding

my favorite was the friday night fish fry

  • Stay at the Sandals La Toc. Best of the three resorts. It's a bit of a hike from the one airport, but well worth it. Food was amazing and spa was wonderful! The people were incredible as well! You can go on outings and such. I recommend zip-lining! SO MUCH FUN! If you've never been, bring your camera and take video while you do it. Awesome to watch after. DH and I went there on our honeymoon. There is plenty to do or nothing to do...whatever you chose.
  • To stay: Nature's Paradise in Marigot Bay. Amazing! Check them out on TripAdvisor. I can't recommend them enough.

To eat: Rainforest Hideaway in Marigot Bay (expensive, dressy, make this your big date night), the baguette shop in Marigot Bay for cheap sandwiches (food is very expensive there, so we saved by eating cheaper lunches here), the Friday night fish fry in Anse La Raye, the outdoor market in Castries, Chateau Mygo in Marigot Bay, Ku de Ta (Thai restaurant) in Rodney Bay/Reduit Beach

To do: Ziplining, swimming at Reduit Beach/Rodney Bay, the Friday night fish fry in Anse La Raye, New Jerusalem hot springs/waterfall (a MUST!), the market in Castries, the volcano, the botanical gardens, the rum factory tour, etc.

If you are going in the summer and really want to experience true St. Lucian culture, try to go during Carnival (in July). We were there during Carnival by accident, and it was the most happy accident ever. It was so cool to go the parade in Castries and see what being St. Lucian is all about. We were one of the very few tourists in the crowd and we were treated like part of the family. Everyone there is so friendly!
