Grocery delivery....(Peapod?)

So for the next couple of weeks to month before my twins are born, I am thinking it best for me to lay as low as possible.  A long grocery trip is probably not the best idea at this point, especially since a lot of twin moms are on bedrest at this point...  So far I'm not on official bedrest, but I've started having more and more BH type contractions.

My DH works crazy hours (resident at a hospital) so I feel bad making him run to the grocery store for weekly trips etc.  We haven't yet had a sit down to discuss this so he may prefer to do the shopping rather than further investigate delivery (which is the only other option I can think of).  Unfortunately no family live close that can help us out at the moment (mine are in CO and his in CA).

Anyone have experience doing this or using specifically Peapod?  In Wisconsin (where we are living right now), the grocery industry is very strange.  There is one local chain that has stores here and in MN but other than that there is Walmart.  If I do grocery delivery it would have to be through something like Peapod since the local places don't have specific delivery options through them.

Thanks!

Re: Grocery delivery....(Peapod?)

  • I used to use Peapod for groceries when I lived in Boston.  I lived in Beacon Hill far from grocery stores and my car was parked far away.  It was amazingly convenient.  The main drawback was that you might get substitutions or you might pick slightly different produce (like apple types) than what you would have picked if you had been there in person.  The convenience was awesome and made up for any funny substitutions.  The delivery person would bring the bags into the kitchen, so all I had to do was put everything away.  I think it helps you be more organized about meals and sticking to your list.

  • We used peapod when I lived in DC.  It was great.  I wish they had it here.  Once you get your shopping list set up, it's so easy.  They also picked really good produce for us.  Any time we had a problem, they just credited our account, no problem.

I had the same experience and reason for using Peapod in San Francisco. I have never had groceries delivered in CO, though.

  • I used to use Amazon Fresh when i lived in WA, and was very pleased with their service, as far as milk and dairy products I used to use a local dairy delivery service.
