Lord grant me the strength

to keep my mouth shut tonight at the ILs house.  DH talked to his mom today for the first time since Thanksgiving.  She told him they didn't call when he was in the hospital because I was supposed to be calling her and updating her.  Then, she said she tried calling 3 times but we never answered.  Sorry, we both have cell phones that will tell us if we have a missed call, and we both have voicemail, quit lying!

I really hope she doesn't bring this up tonight at dinner because I'm not sure I can just passively smile and nod like I normally do.  I know it wouldn't get anywhere, but I've listened to the little jabs and snide comments for the last 10 years and I'm so sick of it!  Grrr!

  • I'll be thinking of you. Hopefully it will go smoothly!
  • Flip your lid & blame it on the hormones ;) Good luck!
  • I agree with Amy you could loose your cool and blame it on hormones! Hope she doesn't mention anything though and all goes well

I was totally ready to use this!

Thankfully she didn't say anything about it.  She did repeatedly call the baby "Ellie" though, and when DH corrected her with "Isla" her response was "Great, another name we can't spell."  Whatever, it's my kid, I can spell her name however I want!

I'd ask her if her spelling skills were comparable to her telephone-calling skills. I totally wouldn't blame hormones, but I'm a *itch. :)

    Seriously....THIS!

Best day in my relationship with my IL's was the day that I finally grew a pair and stood up to MIL. Well, that actual day was rough, but she doesn't pull crap with me...ever anymore. She asks my opinion on stuff and we now have a mutual respect that we never had before. She used to talk down to me non-stop and it drove me BSC!
