X Factor WINNER *spoiler, obviously :)

So Melanie wins. No big surprise. America chose the best singer which I can't have a problem with! Good for her.

Maybe now as she goes forward into her career all of her "people" can help her somehow create a true x factor- the unknown special something that makes her stand out. Surprise

What I can't believe is that.... Simon originally sent her home! And then she wins. Awesome lesson for him I bet. Big Smile

Re: X Factor WINNER *spoiler, obviously :)

  • Good for her. Classy, best voice I have heard in years, and a true professional. All the best to Melanie. As for Simon, he is an amazing producer with a clear eye/ear for true talent. Good for him for getting her back on the show. A true man/woman can admit their mistakes and I respect Simon more for admitting and bringing Melanie back to the show.
  • I'm happy for her. She's truly talented. But I liked Josh. I just enjoyed his gravely voice and muppet hair :)

    same for me

  • Melanie has a good voice but bores me a little bit.  I wish that Josh, a local guy, would've won.

I'm not surprised that Simon said no to begin with.  Didn't he also say no on Daughtry and at least one other eventual winner of Idol? (not that Taylor Hicks ended up like Daughtry)

I found Melanie's story, including the sudden change of accent, incredibly contrived and "affected."  However, I only watched sporadically.  I am not sure the market needs another singer of her type.  I bet she will find only modest success.

  • I might be inclined to agree with JulieFe on the modest success thing - there are a LOT of singers like her. She does have a beautiful voice though. Leona Lewis has never achieved that much commercial success here but she's massive in Europe. Like MASSIVE......so maybe Melanie can go there :)

I'm curious to see if anything happens with Josh - I liked him and his voice but always found him boring.

The other ones I can see having some 'fame' are Rachel and Astro. I'm not sure that chris rene will - outside of his story, he's just mediocre talent-wise.

  • I bet they're disappointed with the ratings for X-factor.  I heard it pulled in 9 million viewers sometimes.  Shows have been canceled or on the bubble with # like that depending on the demographic share.

  • Simon sent her home on purpose, imo.   He knew she was a contender, but she needed a story not just a voice.   Chris Rene made it so far part,y because of his story.

Amaro was boring.  She needed some drama.  She ended up having a little drama because of the accent thing, but Simon could never have predicted that
