1. Apparently when the people who live over my mom bought the condo a woman with a Muslim head dress came with them once to see the place. My mom hasn't see her since. Her conclusion? She is obviously being held hostage by her middle eastern husband upstairs and isn't allowed to leave the condo because the man has forbidden it. You know, this is logical because "that's how they are there." Or, mom, just MAYBE she doesn't live there and only came to see the place one time, but I realize my theory is probably a reach.
2. In an attempt to display sympathy for the people who clear the sidewalk in her complex she made reference to the fact that they are probably all Mexican, which means they are likely here illegally and thus not even being paid minimum wage to do this job.
3. Then this evening she went down to the parking garage to get stuff out of her car and I gave her my key fob so she could get back into the building. She couldn't figure out how to make it work (waive in in front of the little electronic pad) so she called my cell from the security door to buzz her in. But my cell was still on vibrate from church so I didn't hear it until the third time she called. When she got upstairs she threw a temper tantrum because I had tried to lock her out.
I am so over spending time with people I don't like just for N's sake. Can we please just be done with this holiday before I hurt someone?
Re: The crap we put up with for the sake of family...
May I offer you a holiday cocktail?
Those crazy Muslims and immigrants
Your mom is interesting. Lol. At least the holidays are almost over! Mine were fairly uneventful. The only really out there thing was when SO's dad (1) made a joke implying I'm bisexual and how hot that is
and (2) I hate how people treat B & C like they are a unit. They're 2 very different people and I pointed out how B doesn't like something that C does. SO's dad said it wasn't just that they were different but it was because B is "so slow, you know, developmentally". He always has to say somehow that he thinks she's mentally handicap. She's a year and a half old dude. She can talk. She just doesn't want to talk to you, probably because you're an ***. That doesn't make her "slow". It makes her brilliant.
Annnnd #4 over lunch today...
Her piano student brought her a Christmas present and my mom didn't have anything to give back to her. She wasn't expecting it because "oriental" people don't celebrate Christmas.
How is it that I didn't not grow up in a compound, wearing white sheets and burning crosses?!?
