how did you celebrate christmas?
Merry Christmas Ladies!
What did you do this weekend to celebrate Christmas? Get any great gifts?
Re: how did you celebrate christmas?
DH and I woke up at 6 am. Since we were both awake, we went downstairs, turned the lights on the tree on, and opened our presents with just the light from the tree. It was so much fun. DH got me boots I wanted and 2 new beads for my Pandora bracelet.
Later, I made us a nice breakfast before heading over to my ILs. At my ILs, we opened gifts, drank mimosas, watched movies, had yummy food, and took naps. I got a bunch of small stuff I wanted from my amazon wish list and my SIL made me a beautiful scarf. It was a great day from start to finish!
We spend Christmas Eve at my Busha's (my great-grandma) with my mom's side of the family with pierogies. I go to midnight mass with my immediate family and we spend the night at my parents' house and do presents with them and my siblings on Christmas morning. We then drove to in-laws for brunch (luckily they live less than 15 mins from my parents), and later on had Christmas dinner with at my aunt's house with my dad's side of the family.
I feel extremely blessed for the generosity- we've had a rough year financially, and I can't believe some of the gifts I received! My maternal grandparents went in with my parents and I got a Kindle Fire, I got some work shirts/sweaters from my parents and siblings. My in-laws got us a wireless printer and a camera and they got me a new peacoat and laminating machine. H got me a really special gift- I really wanted to take a 4 generations wedding picture of my Busha, grandma, mom and me (all of us are first borns, too) and I couldn't find a frame for it. The 4 generation frame at Kohls is horizontal, and the picture is vertical. He got me a personalized, vertical 8 x 10 frame!
We did Hanukkah and Christmas this weekend. Friday night was Hanukkah dinner part one with DH, my mom and my uncle. Christmas Eve we did Feast of the Seven Fishes at his parents' house, then went to his aunt's for dessert. Did the midnight mass thing and came home. Christmas day we did at his parents house with my mom.
We're doing Hanukkah part 2 on Wednesday night with my dad, stepmom, and his parents.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
Congratulations on having a girl! Oh, the clothes will be so fun!
What a great idea to find out on Christmas!
Ash yay for having a girl! its SO SO SO much fun...even tho boys are too!!
We spent Christmas eve at DHs aunt's house with his mom's side. We had fun hanging out and playing christmas trivia We got up early and went to 8 am mass, then opened presents. DH gave me some jewelry and some books and a baking stone and something that hasnt yet arrived. It was my first ever Christmas away from my family! Thanks to my iPhone and my moms new iPad, I was at least able to virtually "see" everyone!
We are on our way back to my moms now, and we will have Christmas with my family on Thursday.
Azel-congrats on having a baby girl!!!!!!
Our Christmas started on Wednesday when SIL and MIL came up to stay with us. They stayed until Thursday evening but then left because SIL had a fever and was scared of getting the baby sick. We had a nice time while they were here though, MIL made a nice turkey dinner and we opened gifts.
On Saturday we went to my sister's house and had dinner and exchanged gifts with my family. Then we went to MIL's and stayed the night. On Christmas morning we had breakfast and relaxed, and then went to visit SIL who was in the hospital with a nasty leg infection :-(
After we went to visit SIL we went to my sister's and had dinner, then continued home. It was a wonderful holiday weekend with the baby, but we were EXHAUSTED from all the traveling (all these events were over an hour away from home) and glad to be back home yesterday.
