Universal Studios - Orlando

Hi,

Anyone have any advice on hotels near Universal Studios? We don't want to stay at the resorts inside the park because they are significantly more expensive, but the reviews I've found online have been pretty mixed for all the hotels near there. We'd like to find one that has an airport shuttle, but I'm not sure how realistic that is either.  Any information is helpful, thanks!

  • The Doubletree is right outside the park maybe 1/2 mile. It is a decent hotel. I do not know if =it has hotel shuttle.

  • We stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites Universal Studios.  It was surprisingly nice.  Nothing to write home about but it was very clean, continental breakfast and a park shuttle.  We ended up just driving because we had other things to do but we really enjoyed our stay.

  • We loved Loews Royal Pacific, but it is $$. No idea about a shuttle. We had a rental car.

I was going to recommend the Doubletree as well, though I have never stayed there.  Most hotels in Orlando, probably quite a few on I-Drive, offer shuttles to the theme parks.  I would start with tripadvisor, narrow down to several options, and then check their websites to find out about their shuttle services.

  • You will be hard pressed to find one that has an airport shuttle, at least one that is complimentary.  I'm sure some of the bigger hotels like Gaylord Palms have a shuttle for a fee.  I would figure out how much parking at the park is going to cost you and add that to your hotel bill to see if it is really worth staying off property.

Parking for a day at the theme park part of Universal is now $15.

Tritto the Doubletree rec. It's a very nice hotel for the price and the location is perfect.
