Has anyone worked for Red Cross before? They have a job posting in our area and I've never worked for a non-profit before (which I believe they are..)
Have you heard anything about them?
If it adds anything to the question, it's an HR posting..
Re: Red Cross
At my previous job we worked directly with the Red Cross. My boss was on their board of directors, and as a result, I also participated with tasks. They seem to be a good employer if you're passionate about their mission. If you're only so-so committed to their cause(s) I would say to look elsewhere. The people I met/talked to were all very dedicated to the Red Cross specifically.
Like PP mentioned, the pay isn't usually too good. If you like the job though, I don't see this as a bad thing.
Pay in the nonprofit sector is lower than what you'd expect in the private sector, BUT the benefits normally more than make up for it.
I was hired in to a nonprofit agency with 20 days PTO, my health insurance costs are about 1/3 of what my friends pay in the private sector, and the hours are amazing.
