Yarn crafters... does this exist?
I want to inventory all of my yarn but am not looking forward to sitting down and writing (or typing) everything out. Is there an iphone app where I can scan the barcode and it will create a spreadsheet of the brand, color, fiber, weight, and yardage?
If there's not, how does one go about getting someone to create something like this?

No idea.
I'd check ravelry.com though. I know they have a way to catalog all of your yarn (you'd have to enter some info into their "form"), but further digging may show an easier way to do it.

I know they don't have an app, but the Ravelry "stash" section is pretty helpful. You can categorize it by weight, color, yardage, dye lot, purchase date, brand, etc--and you can sort/search by those criterea. I think you can also add notes if there is more information that you want to add.

Thanks! I tried Ravelry but got frustrated when it didn't have my first few skeins of yarn in their database. I guess I'm going to have to put in some effort regardless of how I try to organize my stash. If you saw my craft room, you'd see that organizing isn't something I like to spend a lot of time doing.
