More Shingles Fun
I haz them. I thought it was TMJ and went to the doctor on Thursday for jaw and ear pain and she gave me muscle relaxers and told me to take ibuprofen. Sores started popping up all over my face on Saturday morning and they diagnosed me with shingles today. I was most contagious on Saturday and Sunday when I was around all the babies, old people, my FIL who has never had chicken pox 
On top of feeling bad that I was around people when I was contagious these things freakin' suck and are painful. I have a lot more sympathy for people that have them now that I know what they feel like.
I have the week off and we're supposed to be finishing renovations and hosting a big group of people on Saturday. I don't know if we're doing any of that now. I guess I'm thankful that I have the time off to rest though.

Oh no! What is the medical course of action? Do you take antivirals or what?

Valtrex and pain meds are supposed to help but the PA made it sound like it's one of those things that has to run it's course.

I've never had chicken pox and I hear that shingles are even worse... yuck.
Our crazy, wonderful life
DH was told the same thing. They offered him some meds ($105!!) but said it wouldn't help it go away faster, so DH denied the meds (esp at that price) and took some vicodin for pain. It took about a month for things to totally clear up.

Oh goodness! I think the pain meds and valtrex were about $13 together and honestly the pain meds are proving to be more valuable than the valtrex. Where did your DH break out at?
The doctor said that she was seeing more and more young people with shingles which was kind of odd.
Boo! I hear they hurt like and SOB. Did you call your family to give them a head's up to look out for symptoms?

I did. I thought the sores were cold sores so I was already being very careful with the kids and turning me head when people were giving my hugs so I hope everyone is ok.

I haven't had any more breakouts since I've started it so that has been nice.
