When did you let your child start sleeping with a blanket?
Right now I lay Mason down at night in his crib with his blanket and his giraffe, then in about 10 minutes he's sleeping and I go in and take it all out of his crib.
When did you switch completely from a bottle to a cup?
Our dr told us we need to make the switch, seems early to me.
Re: 2 ?'s about kids
Evan was over a year for a blanket but he was a summer baby so there was no need. He had a blanket full time starting that winter though. He actually didn't sleep with any sort of lovey until we got him a small Elmo doll earlier this year.
Evan was off the bottle by 10 months but he didn't care about it. He drank just the same from a sippy as he did a bottle. We did use the Nuk trainer for milk/formula for several months and it's basically a glorified bottle. We always did water in a straw sippy.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
My boys had blankets and pillows at about a year... they had lil lovey type blankets way before then.
We were off bottle completely by 11 mos.... started sippy cup at 4 mos with water so they got use to it.... started milk in sippy cups around 9 mos...only had bottle at bed and first one in morning from about 9-10.5 mos and then just bottle at bed till about 11 mos.
I think both my kids started sleeping with their blankets around 8 months or so.
DS had his last bottle at 8 1/2 months. DD had her last at 14 months. She loved it a lot more than he did. We gave him a straw cup one day, and he took right to it, so we never looked back.
J got to have a blanket in bed at around 9 or 10 months. It was hand quilted - so it had lots of holes in it. I was overly nervous about giving it to her but it was closing in on winter time and she needed a little extra something.
She was off the bottle and using sippy cups full time at 11 months.
Blanket - I think about a year or maybe a little bit earlier than that.
Sippy - when I went to J's 12 month appt, the pedi said she wanted him off the bottle by 18 months. I realized that he didn't care if he had the bottle or sippy, I just gave it to him out of habit. So, I just dropped the bottle completely. Then we did about the same with D.
- I'm a paranoid freak, so about 18 months.
- Went cold turkey on the bottle at 12 months exactly.
