Couple random questions

1.  I know it's asked a lot on here, but where do you have - or where should we start - to put a will together?

2.  Who do you have life insurance through?  We need to get both of us on a policy here in the very near future.

3.  Any good recommendations for a mortgage broker?  We currently have ours through Wells Fargo and I've been happy with them, but it seems like there was someone a couple of you highly reccomended when refinancing...  We're opening up the idea of just starting to look for a bigger house, but I'd like to meet with someone and see what a realistic price range would be for us to look at.

 4.  DS has been spitting up a lot more than usual.  He's 8 months old.  99% on BM (we do one bottle of formula at night).  No big changes in my diet...I can't think of any foods that I've eaten that he wouldn't have had before.  He had to be sent home from daycare on Thursday because he had two super big throw-up type of spit ups.  No other symptoms of being sick.  Super happy guy.  Could he develp a lactose intollerance all of a sudden?  No rashes or anything - just lots of spit up.  I have a call in to the nurses line at the dr. office - just thought I'd see if anyone else has any ideas...

Thanks!

Re: Couple random questions

  • 1. I would contact an attorney. I can't remember who my parents go through but when I used to work at a law office they were fairly simple to do.

    2. State Farm and my work. We had State Farm when we got married and DH still has a policy through them. I was able to get one through my work for me for dirt cheap. I can't get a very high amount for DH though so that is why he is still with SF.

    3. My parents have their mortgage plus they have a ton of rental properties and they are all through SAC. They have been really good to work with and my brother just bought a house and used SAC also. I'm not sure who they work with but they go to the location in Bellevue. I'll consider them when DH and I get a new house.

  • 1.) We got a recommendation for a lawyer through family. We also went with one through DH's home town, because he was a lot less expensive. I think it cost us $150 or so.

2.) I can't think of the exact life insurance company, but we go through Trinity Group and Matt Green is our agent.

3.) No, we hated ours (through Bank of the West), and we would never recommend her to anyone else.

    4.) No idea. Sorry.

  • 1.  We still need to do.  Biggest procrastinator right here.

    2.  New York Life.  Let me know if you would like our agent.  He's young and has lots of great options- my dh has term and I have whole life insurance that we can borrow from at retirement.  We also have life insurance on our kids that they can take over or we can continue to put money into.  It can also be cashed out at a later date.

    3.  Regent Financial is who we used to refinance.  Krissy recommended them.

    4.  Too much milk/formula?  Ian does this if we give him too much milk/formula.  Otherwise he's a non-spitter upper.

  • 2. We have whole life for all three of us through my work -- but it's a policy that continues after I leave. We also took out a 20 yr term policy for DH and I through State Farm to cover our home loan in the case that something happens to either or both of us -- which is where we have our car and home owners insurance. We use Shawn Benge.

    3. We used Matt Marshall with Primary Residential Mortgage
    402-502-4900 x 104 and matt @ primeresinc.com
He was great to work with... he helped us really be fully prepared for what we could afford --- which made upgrading our house very stress free. Our loan was immediately bought by Wells Fargo but dealing with someone locally was much better than dealing with them from the beginning.

  • 1.  We used Legal Zoom.

    2.  We have ours through Mutual of Omaha (because I used to work there).  I would check with a financial advisor for best rates, we use Edward Jones and he had some pretty competitive rates.

    3.  Love, love, love Brad Dexter at Regent, 402-955-0880.  Tell him Krissy referred you, I've referred a lot of people!

  • With life insurance, you should write down some parameters that will help you decide what policy to take on both, you and DH, how much, and for how long. It?s a good idea to have term insurance when you want to cover large liabilities, like mortgages and loans, in addition to the death benefit. Term is simple, cheap and can have certain provisions that provide a more wholesome coverage for you and your family. But remember, it expires at the end of the term you signed up for. I would recommend whole life insurance (if you can afford it) on one of you, and also recommend that you learn how to leverage its borrowing capacity and cash-value to your advantage. There are plenty of resources online that can help you do this. Good luck!

  • 1. My dad is an estate attorney Steve at http://www.etrusteecounselor.com/index.php  Consultation is free.  I'd recommend doing an attorney since you have kids.  My dad said legalzoom type thing was fine for H and I since we have little assets and no kids but we'll go to him once we have kids.

    2. We currently have policies through Farm Bureau but I'll probably shop around again soon to make sure we have good rates.  I think maybe through selectquote.com or there was a website like that which MM recommended.

    3. We used Ryan at Private Mortgage Group and loved him. http://theprivatemortgagegroup.com/ryan/   He's able to shop around for rates and the best rate for us at the time was with Wells Fargo so our loan was sold to them.
