Re: Favorite gift you gave someone?

  • i gave DH a lego millennium falcon and i loved seeing his face light up when he saw it (and yeah, dude is almost 35 and is excited about a star wars toy)

  • A few years ago DH and I were in Maui and we went whale watching.  DH is a great photographer and he was able to catch of photo of the whale's tail.  He had it framed but I took the photo and blew it up and had it put onto a canvas.  It was great!  He loved it.
  • For my brother who is impossible to shop for, we bought him gloves that work with your iphone.  He was really excited.  He lives in NYC and walks 12 blocks to work so I know it will be a much appreciated and loved gift.

In cheeky's vein, I pre-ordered DH star wars for XBox 360 Kinect and he is ridiculously excited. I also made him go through many layers of gift boxes with clues before the big reveal, just for fun.

  • My brother, sister and I all pitched in and got my parents a 47" tv.  I wasn't home for Christmas, but my sister said my dad about passed out with glee.  My was pretty excited, even though she could care less about that type of stuff.

My favorite gift I got was my new slippers from DH.  Super lame - but soooooo cozy!

  • My dad was probably the most excited by his gift, which was two cases of Alaskan Amber beer.  He fell in love with the stuff on their Alaskan cruise last summer, but you can't get it on the east coast and a lot of the liquor stores won't ship to DE (we had it shipped from San Diego to our place).  He already wants us to order four more cases for him but with shipping charges of $30/case, I don't see my mom going for that...

  • My parents loved their new digital camera and my in-laws love their new laptop. We split the cost of a new laptop for my sister and she was pretty freaking stoked.
  • DH is psyched about his remote control helicopter.  He's been asking for one for at least 3 years now.

  • I think my parents were pretty blown away by the TV my sister and I got them. Loved seeing the look on my dad's face!
  • every year, the grandparents' (DH's and my parents) favorite gifts are the 120-pg photobooks I make for each child's year (birth-1, 1-2, 2-3, etc).

DH bought himself a new smart phone w/ "our" money and he loves it

  • DD was super excited with her new wide angle lens and also with the keep calm and play field hockey print I got for her.  I think the second most excited was my sister when she opened her curved shower rod.

  • I was most excited to see my mom open her Steelers earrings. She got me some, but didn't buy any for herself, so it worked out perfectly.
  • My husband was most excited by his remote control indoor helicopter and his PS3 with games including Call of Duty.

We gave my niece personalized Disney Princess books which had her name, friends names, and her location throughout them- they turned out awesome.

Not part of the question, but.... I was most excited by Caps/Rangers tickets for tomorrow night- row 7 and a Caps jersey. Even though the caps have been playing so-so, we have never sat that close in Verizon Center, so I am extremely excited. (plus rangers are my 2nd fav team and have been playing well)

  • We ("Santa") gave Warner a toddler-sized acoustic guitar and he LOOOOOOOVES it. His reaction to it was priceless...he kept clapping his little hands and jumping and saying "It's a guitar!" over and over. My little musician, so adorable :-) (I might be biased!)
