Hipster dog is not impressed.
Re: Poll: Regifting
this.
i regifted a yankee candle to my mom once. i'd gotten it as a gift the day before and knew she'd like the scent.
I've given things away that I have gotten as gifts, but I always let people know it was a gift.
Example: For mother's day an old friend of mine gave me a pair of very pretty earrings. I don't ever wear earrings so I gave them to my mom. I thought she would like them and she did. It didn't replace a gift though...it just supplemented it.
I have regifted GCs - really only once b/c it was from a store that I did not shop at regularly, but the couple I went to an upcoming wedding for was registered at - so they would have def. used it.
I have also regifted things DS gets for presents. We have a large family and we are fortunate to get a ton of gifts for DS. If he gets a duplicate at his b-day, or if it's an extra toy that hasn't been opened that I stuck in the closet and I know it's age appropriate and something the kid would like, I will regift it to a kiddo. I just did that this Xmas for a book he received that we already had at home. I sent it on to one of my cousin's DS's who is about a year younger. DS really enjoys his book, so I am hoping he will, too.
I rarely regift, though. It's only done if it's brand new and something I would have given the receiver myself. I am very paranoid about gift receipts and like to include one with everything. Even though it is not likely the person will return something I give, I still don't want them to be stuck with it, just in case. I was really bummed that Lowe's does not give gift receipts when I bought a few home garden items for BIL and SIL last night!
i regifted today. a secret santa from another circle of friends gave me a bottle of cake vodka... i had just bought a bottle last week, and definitely don't need 2 bottles.
i gave the gifted bottle to my hairdresser for christmas. she was thrilled.

I donate or trash unwanted gifts. They are always from my aunt and trust me, nobody would want them.
