Anyone transfer a nursing license from PA to MD?
The process is really weird and confusing. Apparently getting ahold of someone at the MD Board of Nursing is next to impossible also. If someone has done it recently could you PM me?
Thanks!!
Re: Anyone transfer a nursing license from PA to MD?
I?m new to the nest (I?m a knottie finally making the switch!) But this post is really interesting.
Have you looked into nurse practitioner schools? There are so many opportunities for nurses, especially now that there?s a doctorate in nursing, the possibilities seem endless!
The medical director of my hospital is a nurse? Also, not to burst your bubble, but I know a lot of nurses look down upon other nurses who decide to switch careers to a ?higher? level so to speak. The idea of nursing is more a holistic approach whereas MDs and Pas go by a more traditional medical model.
I got accepted to PA school, but it seems as though, once you?re a PA, you?re always a PA?no way to continue furthering those titles? not so with RNs or MDs. If you decide on medical school, you?ve got to clearly indicate why you want to switch. You cannot switch licenses, but the classes you may have taken could possibly transfer to a new school. It?ll be a lot of work in the end.
Best of luck to you!
Hi, thanks for the post...I'm transferring my nursing license between states...from Pennsylvania to Maryland...not switching professions like a physician's assistant to a doctor. I can see where you'd get confused though...lol.
