The Baloney Bug, A Blog
I'm dying to see this, BUT
*possible spolier alert*
I'm a little worried about the rape scene...I generally have a hard time with these in movies...
I was watching the original again today.
Worried Daniel Craig will ruin the remake for me but I'm a fan of Fincher so I will give it a shot
You will want to close your eyes and plug your ears. It is quite bad and disturbing.
Honestly, I felt like that and other sexual things were too much of the driving force in the movie. I liked the books for the political/financial/journalism/crime aspect, but I felt that was overshadowed by the sexual encounters in the movie. I didn't enjoy the movie.
and another possible spoiler
I really could have done without such a long and close-up shot of the cat
I was worried about that scene too and strategically planned a bathroom break during it...I'm glad I did, DH had a hard time with it. Otherwise though I'm really glad I saw the movie, I agree that Rooney did a fantastic job!
It was terribly dark and disturbing, of course. The rape scene was hard for me - I felt like I was going to be ill. And the close-ups of the poor cat, who I'd fallen in love with and forgotten the fate of, were terrible - I covered my eyes. But I knew it was a twisted story, and it stayed pretty darn true to the books.
I thought the cast was excellent and the movie was really well done. I've warned my husband that I'll probably have nightmares, since I just saw the movie tonight, but I'm so glad I saw it. I can't wait for the next movie to come out now.
