A recap of my week in regards to the party/dress search is as follows:
Tuesday - Found out about the party being at the Roostertail and freaked out about not having a formal dress that currently fits. http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/61440864.aspx Searched the Kohls' website and found 5 dresses that I was interested in. Convinced DH to take me there after work while Mom watched the girls, and was incredibly disappointed because all of the dresses were online only (BOO!!) and I didn't have enough time to have them sent without paying extra shipping. Went to Target as well to see about getting some Spanx and they ddn't have my size. (BOO!!) Went to bed a little
.
Wednesday - Found another dress online at Dressbarn that got me excited. Went there with my Mom (and the kidlets) to check it out but I was disappointed with it in person. I probably tried about 15 dresses on there, but nothing worked out. There were a couple that I was considering, but I felt self conscious about my tummy region and felt like they made me look 4 months pregnant.
After DH came home from work we went to Parisian and I continued to try on about 10 more. The last one that I tried on was actually a clearance dress
and lo and behold.... I really liked it!
I'll take a picture of it and post it "tomorrow" (err...later today) so you can all see it, but it's super cute/classy/flattering.
Thursday - Sought out someone to do my hair for the event, since I decided that the dress really called for an up-do. Made sure the shoes, nylons, etc. were all accounted for since I knew Friday would be crazy.
Friday - Dropped the girls off at my parents' house and then ran home to meet my friend who was doing my hair. It took her longer than anticipated and she didn't finish until about 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave. I literally had to throw my dress on while hopping around trying to put on shoes, brush my teeth, etc. I had hopes of actually taking my time and doing my makeup, which is not something I usually do. In fact, I really don't wear makeup period, so I knew it was going to take my some time to do....lol. But no... I literally only had time to curl my eyelashes, throw on a little mascara... and a bit of lipgloss.
We got to the party and I was really surprised at the room. It was really cool and set up more like a nightclub than a reception hall. It was a smaller room on the second floor with a big bar and was attached to a covered deck overlooking the water. The food was fabulous and I may or may not have also eaten some of DH's dessert in addition to my own.
It was so nice to meet DH's coworkers and be able to put some faces to the names that I hear about all the time. I really hit it off with one of the guy's fiance and we talked a lot. We're actually going to their wedding in April so it was nice to meet them both. I felt super pretty and classy and it was nice to get out and have some time with just DH.
To top off the night, DH's boss pulled him aside before we left and gave him a raise! ![]()

Everything Wedding ♥ Persnickety Plates
Thanks everyone! Here's a random (and sadly, the only) picture that was taken during the night.
Thanks Mara. I'd never been to the Roostertail before, so I didn't really know what to expect. It was beautiful though, and the food was amazing!
