Was your crafts a hit?

I did tile coasters covered with scrapbook paper for the ladies in the family and my mom. They were a big hit and I was glad. I always worry about if someone will like something I made for them and they did.

Re: Was your crafts a hit?

  • Mine were! :) I was happy. I get worried about it, too. I love making handmade things and always hope and pray they are well received.

  • I made the Abby bag from V and Co for the women's gift exchange at my aunt's and two of my cousins kept fighting over it and stealing it from one another :-) It made me happy that they really wanted it.

  • I didn't do much craft-wise this year.

I made little thumb drive wallet type things (with fabric that I bought when we were in Japan visiting our daughter) for the thumb drives that we loaded with family photos from my mom's house (stuff from early 1900s-present) that we scanned for everyone.  Both parts of the gift were well received.

  • I etched a picture frame for both sets of grandparents that said "LastName Family" on the top and "Est. yearofwedding" of on the bottom. Both sets loved them. SIL said she wants one now! Guess I will have to get busy making more!

  • The only thing I made was a hostess gift for my sis in law for hosting Christmas dinner. She seemed to like it: http://www.sillypearl.com/2011/12/hostess-gift.html

I wish I had made something for my mom. She always likes my stuff! :)

  • Why are there not more pics in this post?!

2lilpigs, very cute hostess gift!  And I love how you packaged them; finding useful things at the thrift store is the best.

I only made one thing this year, a knit afghan for my cousin.  I made several for various family members one year but she wasn't one of them (hey, I can only get so much done even when I start in September!) and she's been wanting one since.  I finally got around to making this one and she was so excited; it was awesome.

Notwithstanding my first statement in this post, I unfortunately forgot to take a pic of the project before I gave it to her :(  That's what I get for crafting right up until Christmas Eve!

  • I think so!  I outdid myself this year.  I've already posted about the gloves, DH's sweater, felted slippers, etched wine glasses ( I did a casserole, too, but it didn't come out as well), eyeglass cases, and my nestie ornaments.

Those all went over really well--DH was really excited to wear his pretty new sweater to work today.  That really made me smile :)

I also made: a scarf for FIL

He's going to be making some business trips up North soon, so he very specifically wanted a *cardinal red* scarf.  I think this fits the bill!

And oven mitts for our mothers:

Both mothers were excited to start a baking project just to use their new mitts, which is saying something for my career-minded Mom.

  • Reine, I love that mitt!  What's it made from?  i.e., I assume it was a sewing and not a knitting project?

  • Yes, that is a sewing project.  I got the material from KP's sister site, Connecting Threads, together with the super-special insulated batting.

I got the tutorial from Pinterest.  I'm learning!

Look at you, I'm impressed!  I have yet to learn how to use my sewing machine and feel like I'm turning into a jack of all trades and master of none.  The glove looks really great and I would never have guessed you're not an old hand at sewing.

Lol, you probably would if you looked closely :)  But thanks!

MIL totally put me to shame with a huge pleated tote bag she made me, but she insists she loves the mitt, so I'm not about to argue!

  • I love the oven mitt! I think I might have to give that a try! I've been on a crafting break for about a month or so- I'd say I am overdue!
