I used to have the Clinique counter do my makeup every few months for fun. I need to buy more makeup and want to do something similar. Where would you go for this? I am willing to buy products.
Another old nestie with a new name.
Re: S/O Makeup
I wouldn't limit yourself to one counter like that. I also wouldn't trust just any floozie at one of those places to tell you what to buy. There are enough makeup blogs, sites, FAQs, etc. out there now that you can decide for yourself what looks you like, read reviews about the products you might like to create those looks to narrow it down then head to Sephora and test some out.
Or I'd just go to Sephora and ask for help and hope you get someone good. To me, Clinique = old lady and MAC = Ke$ha. Sephora seems like a good middle ground and they're WAY more helpful than Ulta IME.
Totally agree with this, but I don't think MAC = Ke$ha. I just really prefer their foundation & powder to anything else.
I agree and disagree with this. I think it's really a matter of which products you buy. I recently started using Clinique's redness reducing foundation and love it. I was using MAC and I'm much happier with Clinique's. I also LOVE their lip smoothie lip glosses. It's a mix between lipstick and lip gloss. You don't get that weird line that lip gloss can give you but it's still shinier than lipstick. I also use their mascara but that's just because I get it free in their "gifts" and it doesn't bother my eyes (which are very sensitive).
I have MAC eye shadow that I really like and I used to use their powder. I think their eye shadows can be a bit much but they have plenty of colors that aren't quite as "Ke$ha."
IMO the best tactic is what you suggested. Go to Sephora and don't be afraid to mix and match products from different companies.
Has anyone heard of Blue Mercury in Town Center? I was once invited to one of their "girls nights" and was not able to go. I havent heard anything about them, so I thought I'd ask as I am in a similar situation to replace my existing (sad) makeup.

I have seen make up girls at any of these places who look downright scary, it is absolutely not specific to the place or brand.
I am a Bare Escentuals junkie, it works well for my skin and I can apply it very quickly. I would go into the BE store at the Town Center.
Obviously not but I've just happened to notice it more at Sephora lately lol.
