Researching doctors

A little over a year ago I started a new job with healthcare benefits.  Before this job, I had been paying for my own health insurance (Regence), and had a doctor that I loved, BUT she's not in network for me anymore.  I've been on the site to look up doctors that are covered by this insurance (Aetna), but I'm really overwhelmed with how many there are, and I'm really not looking forward to weeding out the docs that I'm not comfortable with (which is why I've been procrastinating for a year on this whole thing haha)

Anyone have any hints to make the whole process a little easier? Or anyone with Aetna who loves their doc? :D Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Researching doctors

  • I asked for recommendations (found my ob-gyn on here actually and love her), and my primary care from a friend who works in healthcare and he's awesome too (he's been so great with dealing with the blood clot).

If you're looking for a doc in downtown Seattle would be happy to give names!

  • I also have recs in Seattle if you would like!

  • I am with Aetna and have a great rec on the Eastside

  • Wow, thanks guys!  I would love to hear your recs - I'm more north (In Edmonds, moving to S. Everett if our house goes through), but I'm also more than willing to travel for a good doc - my last one was right by Whole Foods in Ravenna.

PCP (only been for ~ 1 year) is Dr. Paik at Polyclinic Northgate and she has been great so far, It has taken me a long time to find someone I was comfortable with...
