Hi ladies!!! Oh how I've missed you all! Even since work blocked TN, I haven't been around much and I feel like I've missed so much. I took the week off so hopefully I'll at least be around more this week! Anyway, I wanted to just give you some updates on what's been going on here lately.
First, thank you to my secret santa!!! I can't wait to use my Amazon gift card!!
DH and I had a really nice Christmas. We got our first real tree this year - it was just a small one, blocks half the couch and only has about 5 ornaments on it, but it's our first one! It was so nice to wake up Christmas morning and actually have presents under a tree. After DH and I did presents ourselves, we went to MIL's to do presents and then down to CT to Christmas with MIL's side of the family. Most favorite gifts: my awesome new Fossil watch from DH, a Roku box and one of the new George Foreman grills - the one that has the different detachable plates.
Book update: I finished Girl with the Dragon tattoo and can't wait to go see the movie. I'm reading Janet Evanovich's Explosive Eighteen. I just started yesterday and am already halfway through.
So I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before, but my sister is getting married this summer in Portland, OR. We plan to make a whole trip out of it and DH and I talked about a lot of different ideas. The one we've landed on is: wedding, drive Pacific Coast Highway and over to Yosemite National Park to see BIL for a few days. Then to San Francisco for a day or two. Fly from San Fran to Hawaii for a week!! We're going to use MIL's timeshare and we're pretty sure we want to stay on Maui, but making sure we get over to see Pearl Harbor. We're super excited about the trip though I'm already nervous about how much it's going to cost us. We wanted to make the most out of this trip and since we're going to be TTC over the summer as well (Hawaii baby?!!?) we wanted to do something that we knew we wouldn't be able to do once we had kids. So all you ladies who did Hawaiian honeymoons - I'll be looking to you for recommendations!
As mentioned above, we're going to be TTC this summer, probably starting on our Hawaii trip. I just started my last month of BC and will be going off it at the end of January. I'm going to attempt to do NFP - we wanted to be off BC for a few months before TTC so my body could get adjusted and on a normal cycle. I've been on some form of birth control for 12 years and I know it's going to take a bit for my body to adjust.
Not too much else to report. DH completed his first semester of grad school classes and we still want to move back to the south. Otherwise, all is well here. I miss you ladies!!
Congrats to everyone who has had babies recently and those of you who are pregnant - I can't keep track of all the July '10 babies anymore!!
Re: I've been MIA - life updates *long*
So great to hear from you. I am glad everything is going well and you had a good Christmas with your tree and all!
Your trip this summer sounds amazing! You definitely need to take a day and go to Pearl Harbor. If you need hotel suggestions, let me know. A lot of people fly into Honolulu and stay a day or 2 just for Pearl.
Good to hear from you! The trip you guys are planning sounds amazing!! You guys will have a blast. And it's so exciting that you will be TTC on the trip. One of my good friends conceived her first baby while vacationing in Maui
I haven't read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but I did go see the movie. It was so good! Very disturbing, but very good. I would still like to read the books someday, but there are so many of my list to read!!
I was your secret Santa and am glad you liked the gift card!!! Spend it on something you like!!!
You sound like you have a lot of fun plans for the coming year. I went to Hawaii 2x when my friend was stationed out there. I was on Oahu and Maui so feel free to ask me any questions also.
Congrats on starting trying to TTC! Do you have a whooping cough vaccine? If I was you I would go get it b.c you have to wait four weeks afterwards before TTC. (I learned from experience if you remember my posts from a few months ago.)
Keep us posted!!
Wow, lots going on! Your trip sounds so much fun. I want to go to Hawaii someday, as does DH. We are hoping to make it a family trip once we are done having kids and they are old enough to appreciate the trip.
As for NFP/temping I did that when we were TTC babygirl, so if you have any questions let me know. Fertility Friend.com is a great website for teaching you about how NFP can work (from a strictly scientific perspective).
wow, you have an exciting year ahead! The Hawaii trip sounds amazing-DH and I went about 4 years ago and visited Maui and Kaui and it was so awesome-we both want to go back someday.
And good luck TTC maybe you'll have a Hawaii baby!
