I need an outlet. Just something I can do to get the daily ick and negativity out of my body.
I try to go to the gym every day but it is sooo not happening. I go for a few days in a row then my knee hurts and I have to stop for a few days and have trouble getting motivated to go back. Lather, rinse, repeat. I have several significant knee injuries so I'm afraid to push it too hard in that arena. I feel a hundred times better when I go to the gym so that sucks.
I don't really have any hobbies. That's kind of sad. I would love to take a cooking class to get away from things once a week but I don't know where to find one. Oddly enough the junior college here doesn't seem to have cooking classes.
Re: What's your outlet?
Swimming and Knitting. Sometimes reading. All of these let me get away.
My favorite "me" thing to do is to take a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a book.

I don't remember what area you live in - but here is a local Arvada restaurant that does them a few times a month. they also have Tuesday wine nights.

or check out Cook Street - they have recreational classes.
When I am really wound tight, I take the dog for a walk, often in the dark. Just breathing in the fresh air and the rhythm of my steps makes me feel better.
I also quilt and read, and in the summer, I enjoy digging and weeding in the yard(though I don't do it as much as I should). Those things don't "de-stress" me instantly like a walk, but they are mine, and it is me time that I look forward to.

Why not go to a local pool and swim for 30 min or so? You can work out, save your knees, and not have to pay for a gym membership.
In the summer, I like to just lay outside in the grass and nap. In the winter, I still haven't figured it out- haha!

Yoga. I highly suggest trying it out. If the knees are keeping you from doing cardio incorporate yoga into your routine then maybe you can save them while staying on your goal to workout.
