Pearlanders: Lenscrafters vent

Have any of you gotten glasses at the Lenscrafters in Pearland? DH has a pair of glasses that have the oh so special scratch proof coating...and it is peeling away at the edges of the lenses. The warranty doesn't cover this kind of "damage" yet they assure us that it is the best there is. Oh, and their manager Charity steps out of the office as soon as you call. Very convenient. DH went their yesterday and got flustered...he doesn't like to deal with this stuff.

The BBB report for the chain is bad bad bad.

Does anyone have a rec for a glasses place?

sorry to hear about that... bad news!

not in pearland, but in meyerland - it's called EyeTrendz and Dr. Steve Garza is great!  I think they have great customer service and I have never had an issue.

  • EyeMasters anywhere is no better so definitely don't go there!
  • I used them about a year ago and haven't had any problems. Admittedly, I don't wear my glasses nearly as much as I should, so they're in pretty good shape. I'm sorry your experience has been so bad.

  • I recommend Costco all day long for glasses as we have bought several pairs there for DSS.  I think Consumer Reports also rated Sam's as a good place for glasses.  I hope you have or know someone who has a membership to one or both.
  • Thank you so much for the recs ladies.  I will have DH look at his ins. to see where he can go among them.

He is going back to Lenscrafters now in person, they won't do any refund over the phone.

    Wish him luck!

  • I've had good luck with Target optical.

  • Sorry about your experience.  We go to Today's Vision off 518 by Home Depot.  Haven't had any problems like that.  I also don't have a strong personal endorsement of the optometrist like I did for another at another location years ago, but when we have had problems they have been helpful.  Never had the clear coat peel on any products either.

  • We have always had good luck with our Vision Source. My mom had the glare-resistant coating on hers and it bubbled up. When she went in 3 years later (cuz she's timely like that while all the while we had to listen to her complain because she couldn't see well), they were very nice and said it was a defect with the coating. She did get new glasses because she wanted them but they also removed the coating and replaced it for free so she has them as a spare pair.

  • We just went through this process this week to use our dollars before the year ends.  We used Pearland Eye Associates for our exams at the mall next to Lenscrafters and they were great.

We went to Costco for the glasses and contacts but they only take VSP (vision insurance) so we went to Pearl Vision in the Galleria.  I used to highly reccommend them but they have now changed the store and employees and it was a big ole waste of time.  Seriously upped the prices and try to seel you everything after the fact.  Blah

We ended up at Target on 518 and had a great experience.  FYI they are having a big sale right now too.

In my old age and new found vanity I asked the opthamaolgist about Latese.  I have had no eye lashes all of my life and am sick of it.  (First world problem, I know.)  She gave me a 60 day sample (you use it for 120) and told me I was her first patient to aask so she'd track my progress for others.  I'll get the other 60 days when I go in for follow-ups.  I'll post updates here if anyone gives two figs.
