Also, you need this candle.

I found it at Whole Foods today.  It's worth every penny.  The scent is "Library."  It smells like my dad's old pipe tobacco and old books.  It's amazing.

Re: Also, you need this candle.

  • I'm not sure that's a scent I'd appreciate.  LOL.
  • My grandfather smoked a pipe and I loved that smell so much! It always baffled me how pipes and cigarettes both contain tobacco, but smell so drastically different.

  • I wish computers came with scratch and sniff ability.

Because the description doesn't sound pleasant however I can't imagine you'd buy a stinky candle.

Not all pipe tobacco smells good. I remember my grandma's boyfriend (who is now dead due to his pipe smoking oops) pipe smelled like cherries and it was awesome. FIL's pipe smells like rotting ass.

    No, really. ROTTING.ASS.

pipe tobacco is sometimes flavored, and I believe it contains a lot less chemicals than cigarettes.

When DH smokes roll ups, they smell better than commercial cigarettes.

  • oh, see, when i saw this post title, i was all about to come in here and refute your candle suggestion and tell you about the many beach scented candles i saw that BB&B on the weekend (i rarely candle shop, so i was unaware that many vendors went and made sand, sun and beach scented candles).

    ANYWAY

you win.   b/c a library scented candle is f*cking genius.

  • Tabernac, you need the Yankee Candle beach one called Sun & Sand.  It smells EXACTLY like the beach!

I love this candle.  You know how you walk into a good tobacconist and it smells kind of like pipes and bergamot and sort of sweet and woody?  That's what this smells like.  My dad's study used to smell like this.  It's awesome.

yes, sun & sand - that was one of the best ones i found!  i didn't buy it b/c it is not seasonally appropriate.  (lol).

did someone gift you the library candle or did you simply find it yourself?

  • I'm addicted to true pipe tobacco-scented candles - the ones that smell kind of like grandpa's good cherry tobacco...  There a few out there, unfortunately, that smell more like dirty ashtrays, than smoke.   But a couple of candle brands have really hit the mark...

The purest pipe tobacco scented candle I've ever found, is the Yankee Candle version of
SANTA'S PIPE, that's sold in TJ MAXX in November and December  (and probably Marshalls & Home Goods, although I haven't looked there yet).  I have stocked up on these, because I don't ever want to be without them.

My second favorite,  Cire Trudon's "Ernesto" - it's more churchy/incense, although it's kind of advertised as tobacco-ish.  It smells divine though, but very expensive.

Third, is TATINE's "TABAC" candle.  I have about 10 of those socked away, afraid that one day, they may go out of business, and I may never find them again.  Tobacco with a smoky/caramel undertone, has to be smelled, to be believed.  It smells much more wonderful than it sounds.

I have found the LIBRARY candle mentioned above, also at TJ MAXX over the summer;, and went back to a few times, before checking out,  to see if I really liked it.. but the scent on it was so weak, I was afraid it might not burn too well.  I might go back now though, and pick one up, based on the review above...I'm still a little intrigued by that one..
