Would you ever work for the same company as a family member?
What if you would be at different locations?
Re: Random job question
that's tough... it depends on the family member, their personality, how close you'd work, how well you get along etc. I can say for sure I'd work with my dad or sister, I wouldn't work with my mom or my ILs, lol. And I don't think I'd work with H
If it was more like, a family member happens to work for the same company in another location and I wouldn't interact with them much, it wouldn't matter to me.

I probably would, as long as I don't have any kind of conflict with that family member and they weren't my manager or subordinate.
Yes, same as above.

Two of my brothers in law work at the same company ... I think they have about 1000 people in their Seattle office. It's big enough that there are rules about being too close to a sibling on the org chart, so I think it's mostly not that awkward.
1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
H and I work for the same company, but 90,000 other people also work at the company with us and I don't see him on a daily basis.
For me it would depend on how much interaction/influence we'd have over each other's days. If none, then absolutely!
Thanks
I was just curious. I've told 2 people I'm talking to my brothers employer and they both thought I was crazy.
FWIW - my brother lives in Alaska and runs their AK stuff, he's down here maybe one day a quarter. I would be out of the Seattle office, but it's a relatively small, 8-10 company, and I would work with my brother on some administrative stuff.
yes, but only at a different location.
i currently work with my little brother.. and it is fine.
he works at the same location.. but there is a father/daughter duo at work that is HORRIBLE to work with because of the way they treat eachother... completely unprofessional.
i work for a seattle-biggie, so, yes, of course. my husband, his dad, and my ex boyfriend...we all work for the same company, even in the same city...none of us see each other. ever.
if it were for a small company, it'd probably be different...i don't think i'd want to see certain family members every day.
but i have still yet to work for a company with less than several thousand employees and multiple locations.

Same company, sure! Same location, sure! Have done both. Same department? I'd really prefer not to.
I've referred my mom to the company at which I worked (and she's gotten hired at same) twice now, and it worked out fine -- but we were in different departments, even if we interacted sometimes, and it was fine.
