First day out with baby= STRESS

I have a Dr apt today to get my staples removed from my c-section. I'm totally stressing about taking the baby out. He's not on a schedule as far as feeding yet (obviously) so I really don't know when/how much, etc he's going to eat while I'm in the appointment. I'm so not comfortable enough breastfeeding in public either and even so, I can't really sit there and feed him for an hour or more if the DR is going to be examining me, removing stiches, etc.. I figure DH can sit in the car with him, but if he starts crying because he's hungry there isn't anything DH can do about it and I don't know how long I'll be in there, so the baby will just be misearable. I can't wait until I start pumping and he can take a bottle ocassionally. Ugh....so stressed. There is no point to this post I guess, just sort of a vent. LOL

Re: First day out with baby= STRESS

  • When I was breast feeding Evelyn, I was the same way about feeding in public. If he gets hungry ask the office if you could go into the exam room early so you can feed him. Feed him as much as you can before the doctor sees you and when you are done with the doc, ask if you can stay to finish feeding. I am sure they get it a lot being an OB office and they should be ok with it. Hope it goes ok!

  • I would fill him up right before your appointment and he'll probably be fine.  My OB's office also had a mother's room just for nursing mom's with couches and whatnot, so that could be an option also.  It is stressful in the beginning and hard to nurse in the beginning, but it'll probably be okay!

It actually went well. He ate before we left but wasn't finished. I took him off and DH put him in the car seat and he calmed down. Once we started driving he fell asleep and stayed asleep until about an hour after we got home. I think he really likes the coziness of the car seat!

  • Glad it went well!
