WTF Wednesday

WTF, I am falling apart. Apparently I have a cyst on my left hand that develops around the tendons. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't left-handed. It hurts like no other and I can't get an appointment with an orthopedic until tomorrow. I can't barely move my hand and have shooting pain all the way down my fingers. According to what the doc at the clinic said last night they can either drain it, which may not help, or have it surgically removed. Yeah, on top of everything else I really want to have surgery right now. This blows.

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • Holy crap Liz! Sorry to hear that - hopefully it won't come to surgery :(

WTF my SIL's husband ate the sandwich I was going to bring for lunch today! Who eats the very last of the leftovers in someone else's home? [note: I'm violently overreacting to this because he's been a real sh*t the whole trip, but still - who does that?]

That sucks Liz!  I have one on my right wrist (thankfully I'm left handed though).  You can try and wrap it with ace wrap or other til you can see the doctor.  They tend to form when you use your hand a lot and can be caused by friction, so resting it from moving for the day might ease some of the pain.  I've had mine for 4 years because I don't want to have surgery, but I think I'm going to ask them to drain it soon.  It comes and goes, most of the time its painless, but when it flares up it HURTS!

Yikes! I'm not sure if this makes me feel better or worse.

I thought about getting something to splint it for a while, but I wasn't sure if that would help. I think I'll swing by the pharmacy tonight and get something to keep it from moving. The doc last night mentioned moist heat and that helped while it was actually on my hand, but the pain came right back. I thought having a 3 day weekend of not really using it would help, but it's been steadily getting worse. Hopefully draining it will help. My biggest concern right now is that I can barely hold my purse so I really need this to get better before I need to hold a baby all day!

  • WTF - I had the absolute worst flu of my LIFE Sunday night - Monday night...seriously, Jeff ended up having to take me to the ER Monday night to get IV fluids because I wasn't even holding down water for over 16 hours. If I wasn't pregnant, I never would have gone, but I didn't want to get too dehydrated because that can harm the baby. The doctor in the ER drove me nuts...asked me, "how many times have you thrown up?" "Um, I have no idea...three times since I have been here for 30 minutes...so, like 20 at least!" He thought that maybe it was a good idea to get some fluids in me...YA THINK???  I had to inform three different people that I was pregnant because the admissions lady didn't tell the nurse, who didn't tell the doctor.  I knew something was up when the doctor asked if I had been drinking and if I was on birth control. What the hell, dude...look at the frickin' chart!?!

Still not feeling great, but I haven't gotten sick since Monday night, so I am back at work today.

Oh no, I didn't mean to make you feel worse at all!   I was hoping some of the things that work for mine will work for yours.  I know they differ in severity, and I hope that you can find relief for yours without surgery, it sounds like you have enough on your plate!  I hope the wrap/splint helps til you see the MD and that they can drain it successfully!

Don't feel bad, I was just concerned from the get go that I am going to have to have surgery. I didn't know they would stick around for 4 years!

I've been looking online (bad idea, I know) and it looks like if they are painful, which mine definitely is, that surgery is the best option. It's funny because I told H last night before we went in that I wasn't sure if it was broken because it hurts so much. At this point I would rather it be broken and put in cast than having to have surgery. Tomorrow morning's appointment cannot come soon enough!

  • Liz and Danie, I hope you both are feeling better really soon! I'm sure you both have enough going on with the LO wreaking havoc on your insides, you don't need more on top of that!

My WTF is that after having virtually no accidents during my adult life, apparently I no longer know how to drive. After I totalled my last car in August, we bought our new car 4 months ago, and a couple months ago I managed to get some scratches on the passenger side - although they weren't too bad. Then last week I was pulling out of a really tight parking spot and clipped a pole, knocked off the side mirror and banged up the door. We just got back from getting some estimates and it looks like we're out $1100 on top of all the other big expenses we have coming up. DH said I'm DWPB... driving with pregnancy brain.

DH said I'm DWPB... driving with pregnancy brain.

I think that's a valid excuse. I find myself really distracted when I'm driving these days for no reason at all and making stupid little mistakes. Hopefully you don't hit anything else from here on out!

  • WTF I feel like I am getting a cold and I am hosting NYE.  This is not a good thing!!!  I'm hoping I can get a good night's sleep tonight and that will help.  Looks like Zicam and I will become BFFs over the next few days.

WTF Mother Nature!!!!!  It snowed yesterday morning (wooo hooo...it's about friggin time) and by lunch time you couldn't even tell.  I want real snow dang it!!!!

  • WTF I just found out DH's uncle & aunt are going to be in town (from Texas) and are coming to our house tomorrow night! I have not touched a darn thing since hosting Christmas at our house, so the house is a mess to say the least.

WTF I still have presents to wrap for our late Christmas dinner on New Year's Day. It never ends.

WTF I want more snow, and so do my pups! They just kind of stuck their noses in the snow, like where's the rest of it?
