Playroom plan

So I've officially decided to turn my formal living room into a playroom. Our family room is being taken over by the baby bomb, and I can't take it anymore! The living room isn't very big (about 9ft by 12 ft of usable space).

I did a room plan on Pottery Barn's planner - any body want to weigh in and see if I'm missing something or could be doing something more effectively? I'm so excited to have a dedicated play space, and think Ash will love having her "room" with all her toys.

Here's the link to the room plan:

Re: Playroom plan

  • I like it! My only advice is to be weary what art supplies you put within reach and what is within reach when A is standing on top of ANYTHING. Seriously. We have a toddler size table. All toddlers in my house have stood up on it at one point or another. Just make sure you don't put a shelf with art supplies or something over it. Or a window with blinds unless you have those blind winders things.

Oh and I might be a little weary of the lamp behind the anywhere chair. Those chairs are a huge hit in my house but they get climbed on, jumped on, pushed, etc. They would surely break a lamp if one were behind it or they would at least manage to crash it down on itself.

As a side note, the covers wash really really well but be sure not to put them in the dryer on high heat. I always do mine on low heat and they come out perfect. High heat will make them shrink in a weird way and lean forward.

  • I'm on my phone so it was being a little wonky, but it looks good. You'll change and move things once it is in use too. I think Ash will love it.
  • Oh yeah, Ash thinks standing on her table is the MOST FUN EVER. I'm sure it won't be different for this one! The "wall" the table is going on is only about 24 inches, then a railing - our dining room & kitchen are 2 steps up from the living room and family room. So no shelves above the table, just a hanging pocket thing on the low wall next to it. And the lamp above the chair actually attaches to the wall rather then sits on the floor behind it, so she can't crash into it (because she climbs all over the chair too).

Good to know on the covers - since we've only had it a few days we haven't need to wash it yet!

Thanks for looking - I'm so excited to put the room together.

  • That sounds perfect then! If the lamp is attached to the wall then I see no problems there.

The Oxiclean stain sticks works great on those chair covers. I've managed to get sharpie off several times! I'm amazed at how washable they are.

  • Can't see the plan on my phone, but Vi says she wants to come over and play :)

Do you guys still want to try to get together tomorrow?

Vi can always come over and play! I totally forgot about tomorrow, but we can totally get together in the morning if you want! Ash & I both have a bit of a cold though, so it's up to you. I'm babysitting Daisies kids at 11:45, and Ash go down for nap at 11:30, but we are free before that? LMK. . .
