I would like to let you all know that I fired today. So if today is missing, now you know why!
First I burned my turkey stock. It had been simmering really really long to get it nice and rich. It took about 8 hours to go from full pan to 3/4 full and it needed to reduce to about 1/2 full. I left it simmering, went upstairs to do some chores, about 45 minutes later I smell something nasty/fire, I run downstairs and there's no more liquid, just a thick layer of black burnt stuff. The 3/4 that was left (1/4 took 8 hours, you'd think 3/4 would take at least 12 hours or so) had vanished in 45 minutes. Nice! My house smells like burn and my dinner menu is out the window.
Second, I'm awaiting reply from the court/the other party regarding a law suit we're in (we're suing). I mail my lawyer asking her when we are supposed to hear because it's taking awfully long. Lawyer immediately calls me back to say 'oh nothing new since the official reply my co-worker sent you last week'. We never received anything - apparently he mailed it to the wrong address (I've already tried to get them to change my address 4 times, but they don't seem to know how to do that). Turns out that there actually was a court date today. Fortunately it was one of those things where we don't need to actually be there, the judges just decide on dates and proceedings (I know nothing about legal terms), but still, we didn't even know there was a court date.
As I said, today is fired. I don't want to run the risk of actually burning the house down or getting in a car crash or something like that.
(In positive news, we bought a new home cinema system and DH apparently already got it 99 percent installed. It's very very loud!)
