Morning IN!

Where is everyone? This board is so dead!

What's everyone doing today? What are your NYE plans?

QOTD: What's your New Year's Resolution?

I need to clean, take the Christmas things down and do laundry today. Very exciting day!

We're going to a bar in Geneva that a friend has rented for the night, I'm bringing a couple of my American girlfriends, it should be a lot of fun.

QOTD: To end my eating disorder once and for all, I haven't had a bulimic crisis in a month, but I'm still dealing with the crazy anorexic/bulimic thoughts but I've been doing so much better, eating different foods without worrying so much (read earlier post about steak :D ). I want to be free from it after 2 years.

Re: Morning IN!

  • Good morning! I'm enjoying my morning tea and goofing off online. After that, I need to do some grocery shopping and get my stuff together for this weekend. we have a Christmas dinner on Friday with GMIL and after we are heading to my ILs for a NYE party that my BIL is hosting. It is spy themed, so I need to work on my spy costume and try to figure out the clues. Luckily, I get 3 life-lines in the game since my native language isn't French :)

QOTD: I don't usually do resolutions, but I am going to start eating healthier and try to pick back up 1-2 workouts a week.

  • Morning! I'm here off and on. Trying to figure out some online orders, do some laundry, and sort through baby clothes.

We don't have any plans for NYE. Just not going to happen this year with DD. I have a bottle sparkley so maybe we'll enjoy that together at home. Already have a frozen supply of baby milk. If I can get things together enough I might make a nice dinner, otherwise I'll order so at least I get the treat of not cooking.

QOTD: Ummmm..... Nothing comes to mind. I don't tend to make NYRs. Maybe to fit into my normal clothes by the time we have to pack out and move so I don't have to buy new clothes?

  • Quiet day at work today.  Some of our friends are in town, and we're trying to meet up with them tonight but haven't been able to get in touch with them since they arrived yesterday.  They'll be coming to stay with us tomorrow and then we'll be spending NYE together.  She's 6 mos pg, and not up for anything to crazy, so we'll probably just do dinner out in the neighbourhood and then ring in the new year with bubbly and the fireworks on tv back at our place.

ktkl - congratulations on doing so well recently, and I really hope that trend continues in the new year!

QOTD: I don't usually make resolutions per se, but my goal for 2012 is to get pg.  However, that was also my goal for 2011, so we'll see.

  • I'm going to be as lazy as possible this morning since I woke up with a headache (I hate that!) From 5-7 we're doing a Christmas Vacation workshop here in a nearby town with the local kids. DH is doing music and I'm doing English. You can imagine how excited the kids are by English when they're on school vacation. It feels like glorified babysitting. Worst part is one of the worst behaving kids is the son of the PTA lady who was "helping" me. I'm trying to think of activities to do with little to no resources and with groups of 3-6 year olds then 7-12 year olds. We played red light green light yesterday and they enjoyed that.

For NYE we're off to DH's other grandma's house (nice grandma!) to have dinner with his mom's whole family. It's one rowdy time in one packed house - I love it! I don't think I'm going to party hard this year since I overdid it last year. I think my days of abusing my body like I did in university are over.

QOTD: I'm not going to make any resolutions.

  • Good morning!

We really don't have plans for NYE.  If we were in the US, we'd go with my family for dinner and a movie.  NYE is my mom's birthday and we have always celebrated with dinner and a movie then home for cake and to watch the fireworks on the river from the front porch.  Here I am not sure what we are planning.  DH wants to do something, but I am happy to stay home.  We are thinking of visiting a friend who has just had brain surgery, and if she can have them, sharing some festive treats, but that is dependent on whether she can have visitors.

I don't usually do New Year's Resolutions, but I am trying to be better this coming year -- exercising more and watching less tv.  I am going to try and set (and meet) a goal of at least a hour reading a day, and at least half an hour exercising 3 times a week.  I know it's not much, but every little bit is better than nothing.

  • I got caught up in my book and stayed up way to late. Today when I get up I need to start cleaning the house. Yuck... I've been putting all this stuff off and now need to clean like a mad women for two days. For New Year's we are having a coworker of DH's and her husband come over for dinner. We are suppose to have goose but we will see if we can find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I think I'll make a cheese cake for dessert and a batch of chex mix for a snack. I'm sure we will fit in a showing of Dinner for One. Old short film from England that only the German's know about and watch. It's an odd tradition for DH. Might try and see the fireworks. It's a good year to go since the weather is so mild in Chicago this year. QOTD: start school and feel accomplished with it. Get in better shape too.

Now Nesting from Chicago, IL My nail blog:
  • A quiet day at the office for me. Everyone is still on holiday.

I haven't decided about NYE. I have an invite to a party at a friend's, but she has a reputation for being quite a party girl, and I kind of want to do something more "sit around and chat with a glass of wine" rather than "drink shots of vodka and go crazy." So it's up in the air. Another friend was talking about maybe hosting something, so I'm waiting for him to come back from traveling.

QOTD - Not really a resolution, but my boyfriend and I have started a just-for-fun contest to see who can fit in more workouts each week. I gained a bit of weight during my two-month crazy travel schedule, and I still have dreams of improving my strength and endurance so that I can do more trekking and lift stuff more easily.

  • Good morning!

ktkl - Congrats for making it a month!! I hope you're able to keep it up!!

We're going to my ILs. Not the most exciting NY's, but DH and I have never been big party animals anyway, and his family has a few traditions that they all enjoy. Plus they didn't get to see DD around xmas since we were in the States, so this will also be our make up xmas celebration with them.

QOTD: I've actually never made a resolution before, but I think I'm going to this year. I maintained my weight for 10 years after high school, but in the last 2 years (before the pregnancy) I gained quite a bit. I've gotten several work-out videos with 10-minute sessions on them in the hopes that I'll be able to get in at least one a day even with DD. So my first resolution ever is going to be to do at least one session every day except Sundays. It's ambitious, but if I said 2-3 x / week I'd probably procrastinate at the beginning of every week. And since they're only 10 minute sessions each, 2-3 x / week wouldn't do much.

  • Morning, or afternoon even.

I'm going to have a lazy do nothing kind of day, probably take a long bath and sit in my sauna at some point today to just actively relax, if that makes sense. I had a crappy crappy evening last night and still don't feel all that great (I honestly don't know what was/is up with me, but I started crying and couldn't stop for 2 hours, poor DH, he wanted to comfort me, but didn't know how, nothing worked.) So anyways, sitting in a sauna and soaking in a tub sounds nice so that's what I'll do.

For NYE, I don't know. We still haven't decided on anything or bought tickets or anything and don't have any standing invitations for small gatherings, so I guess we'll just stay home with just the two of us.

    QOTD:

I don't usually do resolutions, but I sure would like to get out of this weird funk I'm in. So I guess I'll try/keep working on that.

  • Hi ladies!  I'm hoping to meet up with a friend that I haven't seen since before Germany.  DH and I are both on vacation this week, using the time to finish unpacking/organizing now that our house is fixed after our plumbing issues.  Not exactly a fun vacation, especially since we were almost done unpacking back in August before the issues started, hopefully next time we will go somewhere relaxing.

I did get to talk with Lelia briefly yesterday :)

We don't have plans for NYE.  I'll be in bed before midnight, I can barely make it to 11 now, but that's ok.

QOTD: NYR will be to try to start exercising regularly.  I'm happier when I'm exercising.  Also, to keep things in perspective and not let work stress me out too much as busy season starts.

  • Well done Ktkl!!

We are in the US still until the 4th.  For NYE the guys are going to the casino and the ladies are goingout to lunch and then to see a psychic.  We are all getting together for dinner, the fireworks and to see the ball drop. It should be fun.  Our families have been getting together for years.

QOTD:  To maintain my current level of exercise, and continue to eat right.

  • Great job K!

I'm going out with a friend in NYC for NYE.  Should be fun.

QOTD: To free myself from the emotional bounds XH cast upon me.  He did a great job of messing me up and I'm working to undo the damage.  I hope by 2012 I love myself more, realize that I can achieve so much in life and that I deserve to do so.  I'm also hoping I can open my heart a little bit to start dating and know what a normal relationship is like.  Not looking for a husband, just someone kind who I can share my time and life with for a little bit and see where things lead...it may take some time before I'm ready for that though.

  • Thanks everyone for the "great jobs!" It's been a tough struggle!
