Birthing classes to take or not to take
That is the question[Poll]
Re: Birthing classes to take or not to take
The first couple classes were kinda boring, but the last couple that focused on breathing techniques, dealing with pain during contractions, etc., oh and the hospital tour, made it worth while.
I agree - I think DH got the most out of it so he realized what's going to happen, what he needs to do to help me through contractions - which really paid off when I started having them - and what labor in the hospital was going to be like. He admitted that he was scared at how gross and uncomfortable watching the videos of births was going to be, but afterwards said they were super helpful and not nearly as bad as he went in to it thinking they would be.
It was mostly for J. but it was beneficial.
DH already had 2 kids(granted they are older kids now) so he went to support me but they were rather boring and the breathing techniques, I couldn't get Bill Cosby's interpretation of breathing through contractions out of my mind so I was holding back laughs.
It could be beneficial if you have the right instructor but ours, while very nice lady, was a bore. I got more out of the last class which was bringing baby home and taking care of baby and that was a different instructor than the first part.
Due to weather we never got to cover the c-section part.
But I'm also a person that went into it with...what will be will be. I trusted my doc to do what was best and just went with the flow. I ended up with a c-section but I still don't think the class would have helped me with that.
I think they should have better classes on what to expect after delivery regarding your body. Granted my c-section issues was probably not as common as your routine post c-section but I would have purchased a belly belt to wear to help compress everything.
