New Years Dessert

Does anyone have a "go-to" fabulous dessert? I have to bring one to a gathering and nothing's really speaking to me at the moment.

Re: New Years Dessert

  • I think Amber has strawberry champagne cupcakes in her blog. I made funfetti champagne cupcakes last year but you couldn't really taste the champagne. And you can get edible sparkles/sprinkles! Smile

  • I am making dirt cake...and maybe whoppie pies.  Dirt cake is loved by my friends and always ask me to make it.
  • I pinned "better than sex" cake from pintrest. I plan to make that for hubby's bday.

  • Are you feeling chocolate? or something fruity? How large a gathering?
  • My family's must has dessert at all functions and gatherings is: Heath Bar Torte!  Light but delectible!

Absolutely!  I am not at home to look it up, but I think this sounds pretty similar:

    1/2 c. butter, melted
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
    1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
    5 egg whites
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 c. + 2 tbsp. sugar
    9 oz. Cool Whip
    3-5 Heath bars, crushed

Mix butter, nuts and cracker crumbs until crumbly. Press into 9 x 13 pan. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and sugar, beat until stiff. Spread on crust and bake at 250 for one hour. Cool; mix Cool Whip and Heath bars. Spread on top of cooled egg whites. Sprinkle a few Heath bar crumbs on top. Refrigerate or freeze.
