Wear your skinny jeans, or a belt when you eat. It's a great reminder that you don't want to feel stuffed to the brim at the end of your meal.
Drink a lot of water
Eat SLOWLY
Only eat when you are hungry
Do something active everyday, even if it's just playing with your toddler, or walking up the stairs at work versus taking the elevator
I have the best success with tracking my food, it really helps to know what I am putting in my mouth and makes me accountable for it. If I have a bad meal, then I make it up the next meal.
Also, putting my weight and story on the internet has really kept me motivated and accountable as well.

16 read! my read shelf:
I've successfully maintained my weight (+/- a couple of pounds) for five years now, and my big thing is moderation and balance. There are days that I eat anything and everything in sight (like Christmas!) but then I follow that with a week of really watching what I eat to help balance it out. It's been working for me so far.
I really liked when I was able to do aerobics/kickboxing classes and/or daily 3-mile walks, but that has been impossible to keep up with since having Nora. Boo.

You HAVE to move your body. Take a walk, a run, go on a bike ride, join a gym, dance, whatever... you just have to move. It's a lot better if you like what kind of moving your'e doing.
Remember the real reasons you are doing it.
Getting your partner on board is a huge help.
Accountability =/= guilt
Find a way of eating that you enjoy but is also good for you.
Fruit IS candy/ a dessert/ a sweet treat.
Plan ahead and get in a routine with exercise. If I stock my house with healthy stuff and portion out snacks and breakfasts then I'm setting myself up for success for the week. I know that we workout certain days and I schedule other things around that instead of trying to fit in exercise around everything else.
Don't throw away a whole day of eating well b/c you make one bad decision.
My addition would be to make this a lifestyle change. It's near impossible to maintain a weight loss if you are not willing to making a big change in your life and be prepared to keep that change(s). This goes back to everyone saying enjoy what you are doing. If you enjoy the exercise - you are going to stick with it. If you find healthy foods that you like - you are going to continue to eat those foods before other unhealthier foods.
Also, why wait until NYE to make this change? Why not today? That's not really a tip, but...yeah.
I've never had weight issues, but being small doesn't mean you're healthy.
I drink lots of water and watch my portions.

Tracking is huge for me. So important because I often underestimate how many calories are in something!
Making exercise a routine is very important. It my alone time and I always feel great after!
I agree with Trickey about wearing something tight while you are eating!!
Cut the Crap - Weight loss journey of a Few Fat Chicks
Limiting our eating out to twice a week (max).
Making a schedule of activities. I get so busy that it's easy to skip a workout or avoid being active, so I schedule it on my work calendar so I know what I'm doing. Right now I do the gym Tues/Wed/Thurs, barn/run Fri/Sat/Sun and Monday is my flex day! Sure, sometimes it gets messed up if I have to work late or have another commitment, but it really helps to keep me on track.
