Sun Palace Cancun

Has anyone stayed at Sun Palace in Cancun?  What did you think?  We are looking at it for our vacation in May. DH was looking at videos on youtube and saw they had on the little bracelet things. Did you have to wear them?  TIA!

ETA; And whats the deal with umbrellas on the beach?  Tripadvisor traveler pics looked like there weren't too many.

Re: Sun Palace Cancun

  • Can't speak for Sun Palace- but we stayed at Aventura Spa Palace for our honeymoon and we had to wear the bracelets so staff knew we were guests. I'd like to go back some day- one feature we didn't take advantage of was the free shuttle and use of all the Palace resorts. So if you stay at one you can visit others and try their restaurants, beaches, etc. We visited Xpu-ha one day but that's all (and I don't think they own Xpu-ha anymore).
  • My BFF and her H spent their HM @ Sun Palace and absolutely loved it, no complaints whatsoever.

I believe all the AI resorts require that you where those wrist bands to identify their guests.

  • We have stayed at Sun Palace as well as other Palace Resorts numerous times. All our stays there were wonderful with outstanding service.

Yes you do have to wear the bracelets so they know you are guests and so you can also access other Palace Resorts in the area for additional activities and dining.  We have never found wearing the bracelets to be a big deal.

Normally when we stay at Sun Palace we stay on concierge level so we are entitled to reserved padded sunbeds on the beach. If you are not a concierge guest, there are plenty of regular beach lounge chairs. I know they set up several rows of chairs in the morning. If more are needed the beach attendants will set up the lounge chairs and shade umbrellas for guests  There are always stacks of both against the wall which probably don't show in the photos you saw posted.  I have never heard of anyone have any issues with lack of chairs or umbrellas.  There are also beach waitstaff to bring drinks, snacks, etc.

  • I've never stayed at the Sun Palace, but my husband and I stayed at the Moon Palace for our Honeymoon and also visited the Beach Palance and Cancun Palace.  Yes, you have to wear the bracelets, and no complaints whatsoever!

I was hoping you would respond!! And as far as the wristbands at AI resorts, we've stayed at Dreams and Secrets...no wristbands, or towel cards.  Have you stayed in the junior suite?  How was the view? We just loved the view at Dreams. This is what we woke up to every day! And the picture isn't zoomed in.image

  • We have stayed in deluxe, junior suite and concierge rooms. All the times we have stayed we have had direct beach & ocean views both to the north and south of the resort. All rooms have the huge jacuzzi in room.

Now we only stay on concierge level because we like the extra amenities, expanded room service menu, reserved beach sunbeds, extra spa services, romantic beach dinner and that extra attention from a dedicated concierge to make appointments and get us anything we want.

    Have fun!

  • I echo everything that MN Vegas said!

We stayed at Sun Palace for our honeymoon. It was awesome, no complaints whatsoever.  We also did concierge level, which was well worth the money for all of the added benefits!
