Re: I am dying. This was on Dr. Phil.

  • P.S. Apparently the parents are getting a whole bunch of sh!t because they raised a racist toddler. O c'mon people.

  • I can't watch at work but my mom told me a story about how when I was 3 or something we were in an elevator with an African American man and I asked him why he was black.  I grew up in a very homogenous neighborhood and didn't have much racially diverse interaction.  My family was mortified, thankfully the guy thought it was funny.  Oy!

I love 3 years old for this very reason - there is no judgement ...just curiosity.  My 4 year old said something similar to a very overweight man.  I took that moment to explain that all people are different (black, white, heavy, thin, tall, short, old, young, blond, brunette) and wouldn't it be boring if we all looked the same.

  • And how cute that she was okay with the idea that she would be like an M & M?

At least your child didn't poke the mans fat roll like mine did to the lady in front of us in line at Walmart. I could have died of humiliation.

  • I can't see the video, but the comments remind me of when my younger son was a toddler. Barely verbal, he defined people by their shirts, referring to "that black kid", "that red lady", "that striped baby", "the yellow one" ... I was often the bright, blush pink one! I was mortified (for much of my early parenting years, and for many more reasons than just this one).

  • I hope that you are "dying" because you are appalled at the terrible dickwad of a dad that would actually taunt his daughter and make her cry.  He likes to pull pranks on his 3 year old kid?  Really?  WTF.  I think the racist piece is secondary to the craptistic dickwad of a dad

Yah, I don't get the point.  She was obviously upset.

  • When I was about 3 I called a black guy at a friends birthday party "Buckwheat" and my parents wanted to die! I watch too much "Little Rascals" I suppose...
