want to start quilting bee?
I would really like to give back more in 2012. I have considered making pillowcases and blankets to donate to Women's Shelters.
Then it struck me that maybe we could start a Nest Quilting Bee. Depending on how many people are interested, we can make that many quilts a year.
Each month the host would come up with a block and color scheme and block size. (I.E: Wonky stars and red/white/aqua, 12.5inches). Each member would make a block, send it to that months host and the host would put it together and donate it to the organization of their choice.
Each member would host one month. So each member would have the materials to make 1 quilt a year to donate.
For materials, I figure each member could purchase the supplies for their blocks (fat quarters aren't too pricey and I can't imagine it would take much more than 3-4 for a block or two each much). The monthly host would then provide the backing/batting.
I know some quilt bloggers do this. I would be willing to run it.
Just let me know if you might be interested!

Oh I am so excited!
I am swamped with work today, but I will get some thoughts down on paper in the next few days.
We could always start with smaller quilts and work up to bigger quilts. I am also totally fine with doing it month by month.
