Yay! Let the remodel begin

Kitchen cabinets have arrived!  Demo of the existing kitchen begins Monday so I have a weekend ahead of me packing up the stuff in the cabinets and cooking meals to re-heat during the next 7-10 days.  And we are painting too so it's gonna be some longass days coming up.

Anyone have ideas for meals that are easy and disposable?  I'm thinking I can grill, crockpot and have a few things pre-made (lasagna, breakfast burritos)  We'll have a fridge and stove for most of the time but no sink and I don't want to wash alot in the tub.

  • will you have a microwave?  I'd probably do a homemade soup (you could even do it in the crockpot).  Yay for new kitchens!!!
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • Oh yeah, I'll have the micro too.  Pizza soup is on the menu!  (it's the only one with enough girth for dh, he has the appetite of 3)

  • Girl you are 6 months ahead of us and just the other day I was thinking of foods we could eat during the remodel.

Go out and grab those crockpot liners so you don't have to clean it.

You could brown beef  and onions now, freeze and then add the rest of the ingredients for chili.  You could also do a white chili ( I have a recipe if you need one- I can use frozen chicken in mine)

Also salsa chicken in the crockpot.  Serve with tortillas.

You can also do a roast chicken with potatoes and carrots in the crockpot.

Pre make and freeze hamburgers for the grill.

Costco has some good salmon burgers we love to grill.  They can be put on the grill frozen, so you don't even have to thaw them out.

I know you can also do lasgana in the crockpot as well, although I've never tried it.

  • Also- I saw this on Pintrest.

And- you can scramble eggs in your microwave...  I haven't done it in awhile, but I believe one minute per egg.

  • Bring on the paper plates and anything that can be heated up and does not have to be washed.  It is hard to live through a kitchen remodel but so worth it in the end!
