Restaurant and Things to Do Suggestions

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are going with a couple friends of ours to NYC tomorrow, we go every year and usuallly just stay in the Theatre District but we want to try some new fun restaurants mostly American or Italian Cuisine b/c the hubby's aren't adventurous and fun attractions in the relative area.  We are heading to Ground Zero in the morning but are open to anything after that.

Thanks!

  • Hi There, Check the Visiting NYC link in the top right hand corner of the NYC Nest Board?s homepage. HTH!

  • If you are going to be at Ground Zero then you have to go to Frauces' Tavern over by the Seaport, it's on State Street I think, just off of Water Street. It's a restaurant (traditional American fare) and also the oldest tavern in the City. George Washington stayed there when it was an Inn when he said goodbye to his troops. They have a really cool museum attached to it and it costs like $7 to get in. You can see what it was like in colonial times.

If you aren't particular about what neighborhood to go to, you can get some great steaks and chops at Pete's Tavern on 18th Street and Irving Place. It's also an old place and O. Henry wrote The Gift of the Magi there.

Sorry, Fraunces' is at 54 Pearl Street, just a couple of blocks west of Water Street.

  • Ok, seriously Squishy, you should hire yourself out as a tour guide, lol.

DItto Fraunces'.  Good eats.  I did not know that tidbit about GW though :-)
