Does the new OU medical center in Edmond offer vbacs?
Re: Random vbac question
For some reason I thought it was state wide in OK that there were no VBACs.
I don't remember where I heard/read that though.
I don't know the answer to your actual question, but this is definitely not true.
There is a hospital in Tulsa I know that does VBAC given my bff had a natural birth after having a c-section for twins with her prior pregnancy.
OU Medical main campus does VBACs. That's all I know...and I think Dr. Ryan out of St. Anthony also does them. Blinking and Shansbride know a lot more about this than me.
I know some doctors will tell you that VBAC is "illegal" in Oklahoma, but it is not. I am a law abiding citizen
Dr. Ryan at St. Anthony attends VBAC, but there are a lot of restrictions on VBAC there. Same thing goes for Dr. Fletcher at Moore Medical. All of the doctors and midwives at OU attend VBAC, but some are more "VBAC friendly" than others. There are also a few doctors at St. Francis in Tulsa who attend VBAC and Dr. Thompson attends VBAmC (Vaginal birth after multuple cesearsans).
Both Heaven Sent Births (out of OKC) and Community Midwifery Services (out of Norman) support VBAC as well.
OP: I am not sure about Edmond, but I will ask around and find out
not right now, but the hospital is being petitioned to have doctors who attend VBAC. Baby steps!
