I didn't know you were red/green color deficient?!  I am too.  My mom is a carrier and dad is deficient as well.  Neither my brother or sister is affected.  It became obvious when I needed glasses in elementary school and had to do the Isahara dot tests and could never see the #.  Definitely rare in women-such a strange condition!

  • You are?!  That's so cool!  The only other woman I've met with the condition is my sister.  SO wild!

Same as you, my mom is a carried (well, she must be) and my dad is deficient.

I remember the first time I took the Isahara test.  I didn't know I was deficient at the time.  My high school boyfriend and I stumbled upon the test in a book of some sort.  He saw the number, I didn't.  I kept saying "stop lying, there's nothing there" and we got in a big fight-- I seriously thought he was teasing me about there being a number 14 or whatever in the dots!  I still don't even kind of see the numbers.

Just the other day I called Natalie's green marker "brown."  Good thing they write the color name on there so I can correct myself!

Do you have trouble with grey vs. green and green vs. brown?  Sometimes what looks like hot pink to me is clearly purple to others as well.

  • We were playing Trivial Pursuit with the fam this week and my dad and I were both going "which is green? which is brown?" etc. the whole time.  THose two are super difficult for me.

We joke that one of the few things that I will always have to buy name brand is crayons/marker so that the colors are on the sides!  The store brands, etc. don't always haven them and then I'm a mess!

Blue/purple and brown/green are the worst, since the difference between them is the addition of red.  I did a presentation on the condition in college so learned a lot about it and it's pretty fascinating.  Other colors definitely throw me off too but those stand out the most to me.
