Goals (or resolutions if you are into it,) for 2012?

Who has them?

What's the plan to make it all happen?

Re: Goals (or resolutions if you are into it,) for 2012?

  • For us, we have a few as a fam this year - starting with getting a single family home.

The Tree House is going on the market in the spring, and if it doesn't sell fairly quickly, we are going to rent it instead.

To tighten our belts and put more aside for the future (into retirement, savings, and Coop's college,) Coop is switching to 3 days a week at day care, and hanging with Nana two days a week starting in Feb.

Our other big goal is about setting a good example for Cooper with our eating habits.  I want him to see us eating healthy food and enjoying it, which works out well because Todd would like to lose some weight (because he feels huge, and also because his snoring is really bad, which always means he is carrying too much weight,) and as much as it pains me to say it, the people at Twisters really shouldn't know my name and order by heart.  Embarrassed

At this point I am not even going to talk about wanting to find a different job in 2012, since I said that last year and in spite of my efforts it hasn't happened.  I am going to just remind myself that CLEARLY, God has something different in mind on that front, and just keep doing my best to shine where I am.

  • I've tried typing out our several times but keep losing my ish, so I'm just going to say that I really, really, really hope 2012 is a better year for us. 2011 has damn near to broken me.

  • I just want 2012 to be better in each and every way for us. 2011 was not a good year.
  • We've got some financial goals that include being able to take an actual vacation (going home to visit family doesn't count).

  • I don't really have a NY resolution, but want to continue on current goals:

-Losing weight - I lost 15 (and held through Christmas, which was another goal), but have 60 more to go.... that'll take a while.  I'm also restarting my working out 4x weekly, which has taken a hiatus during Christmas.

-Relationships - DH & I are at a really good place ending the year, though we had some struggles with communication & expectations we had to work through.  As a family, we are instituting non-electronic game nights, and Santa brought 3 board games and Nerf guns for all to help with the fun.

  • I have quite a few:

Handle money better. I'd like to actually have a savings account with more than a $5 balance at some point.

    Learn how to communicate better

Find an outlet (which leads to me being happier)

Get through court with a positive outcome (with X and DS)

Graduate and find a super awesome job (but I'll settle for something with decent pay that I don't have with a fiery passion)

  • My goals are to lose the baby weight, keep Max being okay with a bottle till I go back to work in April, start wearing things besides t-shirts nd jeans at least sometimes, be a better employee when I do return to work, get the kids outside nd active more often, start working out with DH since he has expressed interest in us working out together several times and I'm no longer pregnant, and get permanent birth control (DH)so I stay that way!

  • I think our resolution will be the same as the year DD was born - lower the bar on our expectations! i.e. acknowledge it will be a steep learning curve going from 1 kid to two and just give ourselves a break in general.
  • I don't usually do resolutions but 2010 was such a slack-tastic year for me I need to do something because I am honestly just over myself.

    1.  Health:  eat better & exercise, ultimately loose about 10-15 pounds: I have my smaller goals on how to do this but one of my specific health goals is... and I want Nesties to hold me to this... is to run a 5k.

    2.  Personal:  get out more instead of hiding in my house all the time and volunteer somewhere. I need more contact with people in general.

    3.  Professional:  Go back to school.  Once I get through this move I need to get registered at a CC to start doing so pre-reqs for a medical program I want to apply for. It will be another year and a half before I apply but I need to get started on those pre-reqs this semester.

    4.  Ride: That fall a year and a half ago really f--ked with my head.   I want to ride and enjoy it again instead of sitting on the horse feeling like I want to cry.  I actually started lessons again earlier this month at the place where I started back up 4 years ago after all that time off.   And I'm pretty sure they are going to have an old pro, bomb proof, sit and do nothing but be pretty horse I can lease and show over the summer, just as soon as he comes back from an injury of his own.

  • I would like to get more active to tone up the body(not to lose weight), strengthen new friendships, and pick up a new hobby like knitting or something. I would really like to be able to make a couple christmas gifts next year.

These are all good ones... and #3, I am thinking I should do as well.  I have the tuition waiver I rarely use, and if I had started a program, ANY program, when I became eligible for it, I might very well be done by now and have a Masters.

Since Coop has been born that has been a BIG thing for me - to do something, ANYTHING, if I have a goal in mind - so I am not sitting here 5 more years down the road wondering why I never even tried.  I want my kid to see that as what you do - you don't talk, you take action.

  • This year was a bit crazy. I got laid off but was rehired as a independent contractor. DH got a new job. E has had a number of health issues and DH had emergency surgery. Lots of unplanned spending.

I hope and pray that this coming year will be a bit more relaxed.

That baby will be born healthy and we will have an easy transition to being a family of 5.

I pray that my job will stick around and that we won't have anymore health issues for anyone.

That DH will get the hang of his new job and not be too stressed anymore.

That BFing will go well and that I will be able to get back down to my pre-pg weight more quickly than I did last time.

That I will be able to make a good book goal and meet it. Reading is my passion so I hope to continue to make it a priority because it's important to me.

That I can be a better friend and be there for the wonderful people in my life.

  • Health and Fitness: I hope to have a natural birth and successfully breast feed.  I also want to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight -10lbs and be able to do a substantial backpacking trip with the baby this summer.

Emotional:  My dad has been fighting lung cancer and will most likely not make it through the year.  I really hope he will meet my daughter. I would like to be a place of strength for my mother and cope with the loss of my father as best possible. I would also like to be a good wife and mother during all of this.

Work: I hope my business partner and I run our engineering firm profitably.  We paid off the purchase of it this year, so hopefully there will be good steady paychecks in our future!

The plan is to keep my head up and take it a day at a time :)

  • My goal is to balance work and being a mommy (: I also hope we sell the property we have for sale which would mean we would finish our basement. Other than that I just want to enjoy Lizzie's first year!
  • I want to become stronger in not taking crap from people. I tend to let people (mainly family members) walk over me and I'm tired of it. I want to stand up for myself and believe that my opinion is worth hearing.

I also want to tone the flab back up after having Hudson, I'm at my pre pg weight but wow is it a squishy pre pg weight.

  • I hate making and breaking resolutions, but some goals for 2012 include:

    1. Continue improving my ability to balance motherhood with my professional life (and find some couple time for DH and me AND some personal time for my own interests, including horseback riding),

    2. Get a paper written for a professional conference next summer.

    3. Continue to work on regaining my core strength and toning my mid-section.

4, Find a show jumper to lease for the late spring/summer, which will help with my third goal. (WonderRed, you can always send me your rejects!)

    5. Establish and/or strengthen friendships with women who like to do some of the outdoor activities DH and I always did together before we had to switch off on childcare. I'd also like to add to my female posse for cultural events like the ballet, theater, etc, which DH attends mostly just to be a good date.

We'll see how much of that I actually do...

  • - Get us on a real budget & get a well funded emergency fund

    - Eat out less & Eat better overall

    - Move out of our rental townhouse into a SFH this spring

    - Meet more people here in Omaha, since I'm a SAHM & DH works from home or on the road we haven't met very many people here yet.
