us too! i adore my bff's daughter, she calls us auntie & uncle (we see her more often than my bff's sisters) and we love that we can spoil her and then when we've maxed out on kid time, we go home! auntie & uncle is a rockin' gig!
and hz, good luck deflecting the overly nosy people who think they can ask (or worse, TELL) you if/when it's time to expand your family. enjoy your time as a family of two and only have kids if/when YOU GUYS are ready. *getting off soapbox*
susie i give your
a

and hz i agree with cheeky about the people being nosy. it took us years to get our families mindset straight with that!! but good for you for knowing waht you want and following it! it's not easy when everyone else around you is doing the normal get married, have kids thing.
Another member of the happily child-free camp checking in!
Ali's siggy always makes me smile.

the emoticons don't work in chrome >:I but thumbs up to Susie & HappyCamper
our families are actually the least rude about it. basically, once we started to be even a little on the fence, we also started saying "if we have kids" to ease them into the idea that kids were not a given. i am my mom's only child so if anyone could be understandably disappointed it would be her and she's been one of the most supportive.
YES!
And that's so funny-i'm an only child as well (my mom's anyway my dad has a daughter with his wife-my parents are divorced) and my mom is super supportive as well.
and our dog is our child as well!
our moms clearly rock
DH's allergies and asthma mean we can't have a dog (dude is allergic to even "hypo-allergenic" breeds *sob*) but if we did, a dog would so be our child for sure. pre-DH, my mom used to bring our mini schnauzer from MA to NYC. she'd been on the subway, the staten island ferry, central park, all around astoria, soho, the east village, and lower east side.
Um, I'm a wee bit jealous of your ticker. This pg was unplanned and one of the hardest things for me to swallow is that our travel schedule will have to lighten up.
Although, I AM looking forward to taking the spawn to Disney World. Its just NOT some place I would go as an adult without a kid!
I give this another
.
Just another happily child-free person checking in.
We're undecided if we want kids but if we do it won't be for at least another 5+ years. We always thought we'd want children but lately we've become more and more comfortable with the idea of possibly not having them.
LOL you girls make me smile.
Everyone have a very happy new year's weekend!
Happy New Year, ladies!
Add me to the cool kids club! :-)
It's starting to get sad for us. All of our friends are dropping like flies, having kids and never traveling. I miss having travel buddies! But I'm more content to be traveling by ourselves than sitting at home with kids.
I used to whine to DH about our travel friends getting pg. And then I accidentally got pg and we're in that club now.
I'm constantly looking into baby-friendly travel things for the next year.
