Hi ladies! Im going to be doing more 2012 and wanted to hop on here and:
Introduce myself. Hi, im Liz. Im 31 and my BF and I really enjoy travelling. In 2011 we went camping twice in Florida (once near Gainesville, once in Jacksonville), we did a weekend trip to Savannah. We went to Seattle this month, visited family in Miami too. We did a week at a cabin in Blue Ridge, Georgia and... ummm, I think that's it for now!
I would love to know what travel sites you ladies recommend for finding good cruise deals and travel deals in general. We are mapping out 2012 and I would like to either take a cruise (probably caribbean) or possibly go overseas. I heard flights to London are pretty reasonable, and you can take commuter trains all over.
Would love to hear any other tips or recommendations you have! TIA!
Re: Travel site recs please
For cruise deals, I usually search with vacationstogo.com because their search option is awesome if you sign up for their mailing list. But I won't book with them anymore, because I've never had a "great" experience with them, and on my last cruise the agent gave me incorrect info that led to my missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (to go camping in Antarctica). For booking cruises, I vastly prefer CruCon.com, and I've always had great service from them. I usually book during their sales, so they throw in free extras.
For searching flights, I book exclusively international flights, so I tend to stick to Kayak. I like to play with the slider adjusters to filter options by layover duration (16 hours at FRA? No thanks!) and for future trips with fixed travel dates, I like to use their fare alerts to watch the fares fluctuate before I book anything.
TravelZoo sometimes publishes some interesting package vacation deals if you live in a hub city. It might be worth subscribing to their mailing list.
Welcome to our awesome board, nice to have you and I`m sure you`ll enjoy hanging out with us
For great travel deals and booking sites, these are my fave:
Definitely Travelzoo!
Bookit.com always has great deals.
For cruises, BestPriceCruises.com.
Also, I`ve been finding alot of great deals on SniqueAway.com, Vacationist.com, and a ton of other discount sites, even Groupon, LivingSocial, etc. etc.
Happy traveling in 2012!
Hi and welcome!
Most of these have already been mentioned, but I like Kayak to compare airfare and Trip Advisor for reviews on accommodations, local sights, tours, and activities. I also check Expedia and Orbitz sometimes for hotels and flights. I've never been on a cruise but everyone seems to recommend Cruise Critic for reviews and advice.
