I am buying a new car in January. I'm not sure what but I have some ideas but nothing nailed down. All I know is that I want something that can handle baby stuff. We're not trying yet but will be this summer. All the things that I want in a car are the standard things. My car is 13 years old and very basic!! I've thought about something wagonish or a small SUV or crossover.
What kind of a car should I get?
What dealership have you had good luck/bad luck with?
Re: New Car
Another vote for the Subaru Outback! We have an 06 and absolutely love it. We use it for skiing/camping/road tripping/helping friends move, but it would be a stellar baby car too. We had a horrible experience attempting to buy at Walker Subaru in Renton, and a fantastic experience at Chaplin's in Bellevue. Ask for Christian Graham if you work with them. H called him on a Friday afternoon, he located the exact car we wanted that had just come in that day and held if for us until we could leave work. We got the dealer, test drove, had our trade looked at, signed all the papers and were out in under an hour.
Good luck! The process can be stressful but having a new (or new ish!) car is the BEST!

...more to come!
We're getting a volkswagen or subaru wagon, so we can fit dog/some stuff in back and an infant seat and a toddler seat in the back seat, has the features we'd like, has reasonable fuel efficiency and is affordable. And it can deal with forest service roads

Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
I want a mommy car... but I'm scared to have to climb to get my baby out...lol and kinda terrified that i wouldn't be able to get their carseat out because i'm short. lol.
i had this experience once with my friend's baby in her range rover.. i'm sure it's not realistic but it's an irrational fear of mine.
one of my friends has a volvo xc something or other and i love it!

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

I had a 2002 Honda CR-V until last night we traded it in for a 2011 Toyota Prius. I loved my CR-V so much. Perfect size for us and had a lot of cargo area. The Prius also has a good amount of cargo space. We got it mainly for DH to drive becaus gas cost in his car were killing us and my car was the oldest. So I now have a Honda Pilot (a larger SUV) and DH will drive the Prius.
Both are good family cars as far as size. Again I really loved my Honda CR-V it was a great car for me and our family.

i wanted a mazda cx7 but only because i think it's cute. i've yet to go drive one... i almost traded in my car for a small suv/mommy car and then decided to get my finances in order first.. and keep my first brand new car because i only have a year left to pay on it!
my mommy-car is a mazda6. it's solid enough to be practical throughout the years, it's sporty enough to keep us young looking.
i *really* want a chrysler town and country though! stow-and-go seats!

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
We got a Prius for our family-car to supplement my old Corolla -- it's very roomy without being an urban assault vehicle/SUV, lol. That said, until we actually HAVE the baby, it's hard to judge how it'll be.
Dealerships... well. XD I have a lot I can say about 'em, but it's a lot easier if you narrow down the make you want first!
