Appetizer suggestions?
DH and I do apps for NYE. It's just the two of us. I default to Italian apps, because they're easy and cohesive - but we're having homemade pizza tonight.
Ideas? My biggest thing is they have to go together somehow.

this is what i'd suggest.
Thanks ladies - DH wants this hot crab dip I make - so I decided to play off that.
We're going with mussels in a white wine sauce, calamari and the hot crab dip.
Now I'm off to spend an arm and a leg on mussels, squid and crab at the Market.

Smoked Salmon Puffs
Puff pastry rounds (a 1" biscuit cutter) brushed with egg white with grated parmasan sprinkled on top.
Bake.
Thin slices of Atlantic smoked salmon (the wet smoked salmon) on top. Top with creme fraiche, capers, and chopped chives. Caviar if you're feeling particlarly fancy.
Apple Tarts
Puff pastry rounds, brushed with egg white and topped with sugar.
Bake
Chop tiny cubes of apples and cook in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger and a pinch of salt until it gets thick.
Top off each round with a spoon of apples, whip cream, and a drizzle of caramel.
Bacon wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese and candied walnuts.
Phyllo cups with crab and corn
Cut butter brushed phyllo sheets into squares and stuff them into a muffin pan in about 4 layers each.
Bake.
Mix together mayonnaise, garlic, chopped dill, lemon juice and lemon zest.
Mix crab chunks with cooked corn and tarragon with the dressing. Spoon dollops into each phyllo cup.
