What will you miss about 2011?
Being single? Not really, but ocassionally it's nice to not have to consider anyone else's plans when deciding on what to do.

About 10 lbs

The Sandusky scandal
What did you learn in 2011?
A lot about myself and what matters to me
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012?
To focus on work more (less of this!),to exercise regularly, and to be a good spouse/mother by giving my family my undivided attention and patience more often
Overall, was it a good year for you?
The best ever, hands down.
What will you miss about 2011? having a house with a garden
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011? The old ineffective air conditioner at our old rental house.
What do you think was the biggest news story this year? domestically: the Sandusky scandal, internationally: the Arab Spring, particularly in Egpyt and Libya
The biggest celebrity news story? probably Charlie Sheen. I don't keep up with celebrity happenings, so the only other story I can think of is the Kim Kardashian divorce.
What did you learn in 2011? I actually like going to the gym and exercising! I never considered myself a gym person, but I hadn't found an activity I liked until this year.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012? keep up with my gym routine (lifting weights and swimming), plan another fabulous hiking vacation, waste less time surfing the internet and more time doing other activities I enjoy (reading, practicing my instrument, talking with H), donate blood at least twice
Overall, was it a good year for you? yes it was.
I'm sorry you had such a rough year.
Is OKC your first half? If so, good choice. It's a great race and very well run.
What will you miss about 2011?
Nothing really
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011?
Another year of school done, which means a year closer to being done.
What do you think was the biggest news story this year?
Sandusky. And Bin Laden's death.
The biggest celebrity news story?
Charlie Sheen
What did you learn in 2011?
That I love running! I enjoy it and it helps my self-esteem so much more than I ever would have thought. I also learned how much I think I'll love teaching math. Before this year (especially before the fall semester) I was just kindof "meh" about being a math teacher. But after my math ed class this past semester, I realized how much is lacking in children's math education and how much I want to help change that.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012?
I usually don't make resolutions or new year goals, but I'm feeling very optimistic recently. So here's my list: Completely stop drinking soda. I don't think I'm addicted anymore, but I still drink it too often. Run my first half marathon (hopefully on 1/28.) Keep running and hopefully run a 5k under 30 minutes. Stick to a budget and save money. Try harder to keep the house clean. Pray more...WAY more.
Overall, was it a good year for you??
Yeah, it was a pretty good year!

What will you miss about 2011? Not much. A really good friend of mine moved to FL partway through the year, and having her around is about the only thing I can think of that I will miss.
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011? Our rapid remodel/selling our house
What do you think was the biggest news story this year? Osama bin Laden's death
The biggest celebrity news story? I don't really pay much attention to celebrity news.
What did you learn in 2011? I learned H and I can get through a lot together.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012? To be more present and less distracted when with my family. To spend less time online. To work more on my relationship with DD.
Overall, was it a good year for you? Nope. It was probably my worst year ever. SO glad to move on to a new and hopefully better year. (Interesting that it seems to have been either wonderful or horrible for most everyone.)
What will you miss about 2011? I'm sure I will miss the freedom that comes with being childless.
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011? Two surgeries, too many doc appts, being a one income couple, DH in PA school, TTC, and lots of uncertainties
What do you think was the biggest news story this year? capture and death of Bin Laden
The biggest celebrity news story? The Kardashian divorce is the one that is fresh in my mind. And I feel like the Occupy movement has crossed over from actual news to celeb-type news.
What did you learn in 2011? I'm stronger than I realize. I learned so much about letting go, taking things in stride, and being okay with not being okay. Lastly, I learned empathy.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012? Baby related: have a healthy baby in three months
BF for at least six months, lose the baby weight by the end of 2012
Other: find a new church home, finally get plugged into a community now that we're moving out of our lengthy "transitional" phase of life, make a plan for my career for the next few years (fully focus on getting masters? go back to work in 2013?), connect with some old friends
Overall, was it a good year for you? I think 2011 was a really pivotal year for me (and us). It was my "I made it through the fire and lived to tell about it" year after the suckfest that was 2010. God taught me so, so much this year, and I'm more peaceful, confident, and stronger than I ever thought I could be. Like I said above, this was the year in which I finally embraced "being okay with not being okay" in so many aspects.I forgot about that. No freaking kidding. Plus earthquakes.
Oops. Don't know how I didn't think of that for my response.
What will you miss about 2011? I had said that I wouldn't miss anything at first, but I take that back. I spent a lot of time with my sister this year, and I'm not sure that will happen next year. I'll miss those times.
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011? My gallbladder [and the 10 pounds I've lost since I evicted it], deployment uncertainties and some of the drama that finally got resolved.
What do you think was the biggest news story this year? Probably bin Laden's capture/death. And possibly Gadaffi's capture/death, too - those are two moments I'll always remember.
The biggest celebrity news story? Besides the Kardashian debacle and the Royal Wedding...maybe the celebrity baby boom. It seemed like everyone was having babies this year.
What did you learn in 2011? I learned that even when life throws you curve balls, the way you handle it will either make or break you. And that my husband and I have a stronger relationship and marriage than I ever gave us credit for having - we faced a lot of sh!t this year, and we're stronger than ever now because of it. I'm so proud of us.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012? Run at least 3 5K's, become more organized, break away from the Internet more, be a strong wife for H while he's gone, and show people that I appreciate them. I don't think I do that often enough.
Overall, was it a good year for you? Meh. It was OK. My odd years tend to be weird, so I'm hoping 2012 knocks it out the park. Losing my grandpa sucked, but that was probably the hardest thing I went through this year - I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
What will you miss about 2011? Hmm. Gosh. I can't really think of anything off the top of my head.
What are you happy to say goodbye to from 2011? Schoolwork!
What do you think was the biggest news story this year? bin Laden or the royal wedding
The biggest celebrity news story? Beats me.
What did you learn in 2011? I re-learned that sometimes the best laid plans just don't shake out the way you think they might. Heh.
What goals do you have for yourself for 2012? More running and paying attention to what I'm eating. Spending time with lovely family and friends. Not paying attention to jerky people.
Overall, was it a good year for you? It really wasn't bad. I'll take it and run!
