Cleaning Services Recs?
Hi there. I used to be a regular on this board in the days of yore, but I never post here anymore. I'm usually on The Nest Book Club board...
ANYWAY - for Christmas my husband is letting me start to get cleaning services every other week. I am SO excited.
We live in Garland/Rockwall, close to I-30 and Bobtown...
Do you guys have any tips on a good company or person to go with? Any tips on how to find a good and reliable person? Horror stories are also welcome if you have them...
I have this romantic idea in my head of having one person come every other week that knows us and our pets that we can totally trust. I don't want several strangers rotating or anything like that... So I'm weary of the big companies... I'm totally new at this. Ha. Help!

I have used Merry Maids. They are pretty good and thorough but also expensive. When we first started with them, it was $600 for the first cleaning and $188 for every two weeks. Once it went to $220, we stopped it. We are now with Cottage Care. It is a smaller company and they usually send the same person every two weeks (MM would send a pair and hardly ever the same pair). Rusty just recently had to quit to help out with a family business but he knew our kitties, would change the water, etc. Our new guy, David, seems to be doing a great job too and is not scared of our cats either. With CC, the first cleaning was $105 and every other week is $90 (so almost 1/3 the price of MM). I also called Molly Maids when we were looking for a new cleaning service. Their prices were closer to CC but the lady kind of looked down at our house. It was thoroughly trashed, however, my mom was very ill and in the hospital and, even though I explained that to her, she was quite snooty. So, no thank you, Molly Maid. I have friends who use individuals and pay a little less than we do but my husband wanted to use a licensed and bonded company. He worries that things will go missing or that the front door won't get locked. When I began our initial search (when we went with Merry Ms), that was his one requirement.
Most of these companies have multiple local offices so I would go to their websites and enter in your zip code to see if they are in fact in your area.

$600 for one cleaning? Wow - DH would never go for that. Ha!
And Mollly Maids - if you don't want to clean houses, find another business. Guh. Snooty and I don't work well together at all. Heh

Hey just waving to you from I-30/Bobtown. That is where I live too.
We now have my MIL's housekeeper cleaning for us, but before I was married I used Cosmopolitan Cleaning (based in Rowlett) for years and was always happy with them.
