Where to shop for Mother of the Bride style dress near Rockville?

My MIL's sister is getting married in a few weeks and her sister wants her to be a bridesmaid. This is somewhat last minute because the fiance proposed in November and they just set a date for January 21. So, my MIL is scrambling to get a dress.

For the dress style, my MIL wants a "mother-of-the bride" type style with a long dress and jacket. We have an appt at David's Bridal in Rockville tomorrow morning but if we don't find anything there, can you recommend other places to check out near there? We'll have a 2-year old in tow so we can't go to a lot of places. I'm hoping to find a store that has a wide selection so that we have the best chance of finding something that will work.

  • We affectionately refer to White Flint as the "Old People Mall" because it has so many stores for people of umm, advanced age. But, that would work to your MIL's advantage. They have Lord & Taylor (my mom's fave for formal attire), Cache and Bloomingdales.  There is also Loehmann's (my MIL's fave) on Randolph.

Good idea. I was thinking White Flint but I literally have never even been in those stores so I wasn't sure if they had formal wear sections...but I guess most of them should. As a bonus we can go to PF Changs for lunch.

I'll keep Loehmann's in my back pocket as a back-up.
